The ball costs £0.11.
I'll explain:
Cost of bat (£1> wink

is 90% of the total cost.
Therefore, cost of ball is 10% of total cost.

The correct answer is £0.05..

If bat=Bt, and ball = Bl,

Bt + Bl = £1.10 .............eqn (i)
Bt = £1 + Bl ..............eqn (ii)

subtitute eqn (ii) in eqn (i),
£1 + Bl + Bl = £1.10
2Bl = £1.10 - £1
2Bl = £0.10
Bl = £0.10/2
Bl = £0.05 Q.E.D

Well, my post is wrong but my intention is that answer. This is because I removed the £1. So the remaining is £0.10. I just divide the ten into two which will give you 0.5. I guess this where I made the mistake;the correct after dividing is 0.05. But let's wait for the op to give his verdict.

AndreRose, you missed it. 0.5 is not 0.05. Just do a Jonathan and let the matter rest.
