Targets low income earners

In line with its desire to key into the transformation agenda of the Federal Government, especially in the housing sector, the Minister for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Mrs. Akon Eyakenyi, has commissioned about 102 units residential housing estate in Abuja.

This stride is another step towards bringing affordable homes to the doorstep of the citizens, especially the low-income earners, the Minister said during the commissioning of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN)-Jedo Investment Co. Ltd in Abuja. Her words: “Over the past four years, we have witnessed impressive strides in the housing and urban development sector arising from the determination by President Goodluck Jonathan to ensure that the sector is revamped and reinvigorated to enable it serve as a virile engine of growth for promoting socio-economic development.

“We are, therefore, appreciative of the genuine concern that Mr. President has shown over the past five years to effectively place the sector at the epicentre of national development under the ongoing transformation agenda in order to fully harness its potential for sustainable and equitable growth.

“In the last one year in particular, many initiatives were launched by this administration to improve the access of the citizenry to affordable homes. These include launch of the Nigeria Mortgage Refinancing Company (NMRC) and offer of 23,000 mortgages under the scheme; flag-off of the 100,000 housing project for workers in Nigeria by Mr. President recently and development of a framework for undertaking a national housing survey to determine whether Nigerians are adequately housed in order to implement remedial measures to reduce the national housing deficit.

“Other measures include the construction of 10,000 housing units under the Presidential Initiative on Affordable Housing being championed by the Federal Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development for which the ministry has signed some Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) with reputable developer; development of a Revised National Building Code to improve standards and enhance professionalism in the sector and the development of a roadmap for the housing and urban development sector in order to transform the sector sustainably through interventions, which involve taking short, medium and long term perspectives of the gamut of issues to be addressed in the sector in order to effectively reposition it over the next 30 years,” she explained.

Eyakenyi stated that the Ministerial Housing Project being commissioned is expected to deliver a total of 2,600 housing units across the country in the six-geo-political zones when completed.

Am not been sentimental or bigoted, Fashola has built more mass houses than all the Nigerian Governors combined....

If you are still doubting, move from Berger to Awoyaya, from Epe to Badagry and frm Abule Egba to Ikorodu...

Anyways, it is well

** You promised 150,000 housing units, yet Jonathan could only build 30,000(at a cost of 2million = N3 Trillion Naira. Where u wan see the money @N467 billion Lagos yearly budget).
** You Promised to reduce tax, Yet Jonathan set up tax review which suggested increase in taxes(Moreover, Jaykay Pharmacy pay tax ni?)
** You want to abolish Lastma, Kai, Lamata etc, Yet Ferma, Sure-P, etc held sway in your party.
** You want to pay Lagos Worker Minimum wage, as "Governor to be" did you ask the workers if they are not already enjoying N18,760.00 In Lagos.
** You said you will stop the Public Private Partnership used to build the Ikoyi Link Road, where will you raise 29Billion to make repayment. Moreover, your PDP Federal Government signed PPP agreement to build 2nd Niger bridge for N129 Billion.
Jimi Agbaje, why are you promising what you know you cannot reverse to win cheap votes?
Jimi Agbaje, what do you really have for Lagosians?
Jimi Agbaje, Why are you pitting Igbos against Lagosians?

They always target "Low income Earners"

But we all know its the rich who will buy them and sell to the "Low Income Earners" at a higher cost.

Or still milk the "low income earners" dry as Landlords.
