Ogboru Heads To Tribunal To Contest Delta State Election by nigerianewsbeat(m): 11:01am On Apr 13, 2015 |
The gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party in Saturday's governorship election in Delta State, Ovedje Ogboru, is set to contest the victory of his PDP counterpart, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, in court. Though the Independent National Electoral Commission was yet to officially declare Senator Okowa as the governor-elect of Delta State, the results already collated and announced by the body showed that Okowa was already victorious. As at the time of filing this report, Okowa was leading Ogboru by a wide margin having claimed seventeen local government areas to Ogboru's three. According to the agent of Labour Party, Ogboru Tunner, the exercise in the state was marred with several irregularities and results from the strongholds of Okowa were heavily rigged. Specifically, Ogboru rejected results from Oshimili South where Okowa polled 47,938, Ika North-East where he got 72,612, and questioned: "why would the numbers of those that voted exceed those that collected Permanent Voters’ Cards?" "The Collation Officers of the two council areas hurriedly colluded with the PDP and INEC to perpetrate the fraud", he added. With INEC set to officially declare Senator Okowa as the governor-elect of Delta State, and following the refusal of INEC to cancel the local governments area where suspicion of irregularies abound, Ogboru will once again be heading to the tribunal to contest the outcome of the elections. Ogboru, who led protesters to INEC's office in Asaba on Sunday, made it very clear "to contest the outcome of the election in court." It is important to note here that this will not be the first time Ogboru will be heading to the tribunal to seek redress; more recently, he contested the 2007 and 2011 polls results - and he lost both. This will be the first time he will be appealing under the regime of a fresh party following the victory recorded by president-elect, Muhammadu Buhari of APC, in the March 28 presidential election. Optimism is high this time around that he may eventually get his mandate to become the governor of Delta state, a position he has been fighting for since 2003. jared007: You think Tinubu will help labour party candidate again? When he help Mimoko with the hope that he will decamp, Mimiko won and betrayed him. Infact Mimiko connived with his political opponent in a bid to defeat his political party. Ogboru tried to seek his help in 2011, he declined it because of what Mimko did, Even Alfa begore of kwara and the Benue gubanitorial candidate suffers same rejection because of what Mimiko did to him. |

This Ogboru of a person sounds stuipid and sturbon to me! Why is he always heading for the tribunal where he will waste his money and still loose? Why did he think of LP instead of better party like APC, with APC even if he looses his state he may still be given something at the center! |

PDP are desperately trying to hold on to SE and South South. They kissed SW and the whole of North goodbye, the reason too many irregularities and killing marred the elections in Akwa Ibom,Rivers, and Imo. Overnight,PDP went from the biggest political party in Africa to a party fighting dirty to remain relevant in political sphere. |

Ogboru should go and sit down! A greedy man whose interest is always selfish. He is always the first to run away, leaving all those who fought for him in total abandonment. To make a simple sacrifice, he will never agree, the same thing he did to late sen. Pius Ewerido before his death. Ogboru does not have the interest of the Urhobo nation at heart, he is only exploiting them for his narrow interest and he will never succeed! Quote me wrongly, and u head to the LAGOOOOOOOON!!! |
