From the very first day a believer accepts Christ as his Lord and personal saviour, God implants all the benefits of a redeemed life into his spirit; not a second later. The question then arises; if Christ has saved us and all the benefits of salvation are already present in our spirit man, why do many christians still live defeated lives?!
The answer is because we still have a duty to walk in faith and live out the salvation God has bestowed in our spirit man. This will take a consistent fellowship with the Holy Spirit and a daily resolve to "work out our salvation with fear and trembling"! Tough times will definitely come but like the writer of James says:"we should not be surprised when trials and tribulations hit us but we should count it all joy when we face trials and tribulations because the testing of our faith yields perseverance which will make us complete lacking nothing"! (Sic).
If a soldier in a battle field calls out for back up after running out of ammunition and the headquaters of his battle army decides to refill his armoury, that soldier still has a responsibility to use what has been deposited in his armoury (spirit) to "fight the good fight of faith"!
