| NCC, NBC Failed Nigerians. by vision2022(op): 10:25am On Apr 18, 2015 |
The National Broadcasting Commission and Nigeria communication commission have failed nigerians completely to carryout their functions to regulate the activities of Network providers and monitor what is being viewed as well as transmitted from TV and Radio stations. forestance on recent election campaigns, where they are hate speeches and advertorials on some of the TV and Radio stations in nigeria, what of pornographic clips and vulger languages on Radios and TV stations in the country today. our media houses publish and write what pleases them without questioning. Look at DSTV is increasing their subcriptions fee arbitrarily and atrageously without calling to order by the regulatory Agencies, am begining to suspect whether these regulatory bodies are being mischievious to nigerians by compromising to their responsibilities. In South Africa where DSTV and MTN came from, these nonsensical activities can not take place, but in nigeria everything is possible. I want to use this avenue to call the incoming government led by Gen. Mohammad Buhari (rtd.) to save Nigerians from these Shylock companies by overhauling and scrutinizing these Agencies to perform their functions. Enough is enough. |

Its a free market. DSTV has the right to increase the price of their services. If you don't like it then unsubscribe because nobody is forcing you to use their service |

Profiteering in every sector....worst of all, they are not indigenous companies. We help them build their nations |

Raiders:Couldn't agree more with you, even though I still wish their subscription was a lot cheaper. NBC can't regulate prices, they can only regulate on licensing, content, etc. It is up to the market to come up with a genuinely competitive alternative, and also up to the end-users to choose which option to patronize. Give credit to South Africans, The only reason we are complaining is because of how good the quality of their services are, and how we wish we can get these services cheap (or probably free). This is a wakeup call - where are the Nigerian entrepreneurs & business men? No point trying to play the victim. |

Bevista:most people don't know that DSTV are in business to make money and profit. Dstv is not NTA and don't get any tax break like NTA from the government. DSTV paid 100 million dollars to get the EPL tv right and they have to make their money back. Also the drop in value of the naira against the dollars means it will cost more for DSTV to do business in Nigeria so that means increase in subscription charges. Its a free market and dstv don't have any monopoly so people can go for other cheaper options if they feel dstv is too expensive |
