We will have a situation where the three heads of the executive, legislative and judicial arms of government are all northerners. I am not one to allocate roles based on religion, region or ethnicity but since that is the Nigerian way I thought I should point out that they (APC) have forgotten that the vice president does not head an arm of government. Therefore, it will be wrong to think that because the vice president is a southerner the senate president can be a northerner. The best way to view this and ensure true federal quota, so to speak, is to consider the roles within then context of the three arms of government. The executive will be headed by Buhari, the legislative is currently head by Mohammed so give the senate president to a southerner.

So who do you suggest we give?

Actually, like I say i don't care much about zoning but since that is the Nigerian way I wanted to point out the flaw in the current zoning formula which would mean three Northerners would head the three arms of government. I would suggest that it should go to the Niger Delta. They have just lost the Presidency and, given how important that region is in terms of oil production, I would like to see someone from that region as Senate President.

If my or our opinion didn't matter Jonathan would be president until 2019. I know that APC and PDP leaders use nairaland and I am confident the messages and opinions in this post will get back to them. The message is, since zoning is the Nigeria way, the heads of the three arms of government should not all be northerners.

APC is planning its appointments, not PDPs. The current Head of Judiciary, The Chief Justice of Nigeria was a PDP appointment. The position is coming to SouthWest. Cool down and wait for further developments and stop leaping ahead of.yourself bro.

You are 97% correct but there is one APC senator, Francis Alimikhena, from Edo. Unless he is totally unfit or unqualified for the job, maybe the senate president should go to him.

Anyway, I didn't realise the whole of the south south only voted one APC senator so I withdraw my case.

But you can't appoint a new chief justice until the current one retires. The CJN is not a political appointment that changes every time the government changes. Unless you are saying the CJN is due to retire soon.

It's not about zoning. The senate president has to belong to the party with the majority seat. It would have gone to the SE but the SE doesn't have an APC federal legislator. Does Edo have an APC legislator?

But the SE can't have that position because they don't have an APC senator & the senate president has to come from the party with the majority seat. APC currently controls the majority seat. All S'Eastern senators belong to the PDP. So how do you expect an Igbo man to be the Senate President?

Anyone can be the Senate President. besides I really don't care who becomes Senate leader.

The present HOR speaker as of the minority APC. and APC made us to understand that it's not constitutional that the leader of house must come from the majority party.

I'll encouraged PDP legislators to give the house leadership a shot and the bases of competence and not party affiliations.
