Not possible under 1 year, not even 4 years.

Picture the scenario. Boy arrives UK January, meets girl January, goes back to Nigeria April, girl sends all documentation June, boy puts in application July.
Application gets scrutinised but issued in November.
He gets his initial 5 years, what else does he need?

Even if everything miraculously worked out that way...(which is rare) he will only get spouse visa first and its not 5 years.
