Once upon a time, Umuahia in Abia State was the mecca of both the south east and south south and Government College Umuahia was like the Kings College of Lagos. And Aba was the center of industry across the Niger. Nigerian youths who later became legendary great achievers and scholars went to Government College Umuahia and they included Chinua Achebe, Vincent Chukwuemeka Ike, Elechi Amadi, I. N. C. Aniebo, Ken Saro-Wiwa, Christopher Okigbo, Gabriel Okara, Ben Enwonwu, Jaja Wachukwu, Okoi Arikpo, N.U. Akpan, Victor Mukete, Dr. E. M. L. Endeley (former premier of Southern Cameroon), Dr. J.N Okekpe (One of the first medical doctors from the Eastern Region), Dr. J.O.J Okezie (first republic Minister of Health), Prof. Bede Okigbo, Kelsey Harrison, Wilfred Chukudebelu, E.J. Allagoa, Donald Ekong, Laz Ekwueme, and Dagogo- Fubara. Abia still flourished from the First Republic to the Second Republic after the devastating Nigerian civil war and years of military rule did not disfigure Umuahia and Aba. But since the emergence of the Fourth Republic on May 29, 1999 under the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abia State fell into the hands of political cultists who turned the entire state into their shrine and their administration was controlled by rituals of all sorts. The PDP turned the state into a land of nightmares with corrupt politicians and their partners in crimes, the gangsters engaged in armed robberies, kidnappings and child trafficking from the baby factories. They turned Abia into a horrifying and terrifying land from a Kafkaesque novel. The difference between the governors of Abia State and Akwa Ibom State is like the difference between the devil of darkness and an angel of light. Any visitor to the two states can clearly see the glaring difference between hell and heaven. No wonder Abia is looking like Ajegunle the ghetto in the suburbs of Lagos compared to Akwa Ibom that is now looking like the highbrow Victoria Island in Lagos. Even the appearances of the people living and working in Abia and Akwa Ibom can show you the difference. When you elect cultists to govern you, they will use you for their rituals and you will look like scarecrows. The pictures of the governors of the two states are enough to confirm my analysis. My simple message to the people of Abia State is simple. "Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you". ~◄ James 4:7 ► Of course, you can tell who are the devils in Abia State. By their fruit you will recognize them. 16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? |

Sometimes I shake my head when I read gibberish from some acclaimed intelligent opinion writers. Umuahia is the most interior hinterland without any resemblance of a city that was ever made a State capital in 1991. Let's not forget that the once glorified city lost all its glamour during the civil war when the combined forces of Russians and Egyptians Forces bombarded the region, day and night from the air nonstop. This resulted to absolute destruction of both infrastructures and anything that stands or moves. This city that is now presented as object of mockery was only given a resemblance of State capital by the presumed failed government of T. A. Orji at the expense of the cosmopolitan city of Aba, the city that lays the golden eggs. Why compare Akwaibom with Abia when the later collects an allocation greater than all South East States combined. |

Although you can't compare Akwaibom with Abia, they are miles apart especially interms of allocation. Akwaibom's allocation is almost 150% of Lagos state and akwaibom has lesser population to care for, however Abians and most of southeastern states deserve better than what they are getting. Will you blame their leaders? No we blame the Abains and southeasterners because they don't hold their leaders acconutable and they prefer to talk about a governor in west or north. If you considered what the so called illiterate northern governors do achieve with their little resource in terms of infrastructure, many of us from south we cover our face because of shame, but prejudice has blinded us and we think we are better than others while we are much worse than others. |

U can't compare Abia nd Akwa Ibom....Akwa Ibom is expected to be better(the have HIGH/HUGE/FAT allocation nd Oyel wells e.t.c) but thats' no excuse to Abia state.... God's own state have been governed continuously by touts, infidels, hologians nd myopic archaic dustbin urchins...i pity 4 dat state ...4rm 1 thief to another Criminal....stealing is not corruption in Abia Government, Stealing is not even a crime, i don't even think EFFC nd ICPC knw where Abia state is ...that state is a reproach to excellence, good governance nd development, though an Oil producing state nd a commercial state, when u look at the State retrospectively u will doubt whether the even have any Internal Resource or IGR... Farewell to Abia State...I will even support GMB if he installs a Military Governor in dat State democracy has failed in Abia state......Pdp Abia State is synonymous to F9 in Waec Maths nd English.. God pls help Abia State..... |
