A recent attempt by a Nigerian activist group, BudgeIT to break the iron curtain of secrecy was rebuffed by the Legal Services Department of the National Assembly.

BudgetIT had on 14 march written a latter to the National Assembly, requesting a breakdown of the N600 billion that members appropriated to themselves in four years.

The request was made using the Freedom of Information Act, enacted by the Assembly four years ago, with fanfare to encourage transparency and accountability.

freedom of information is a farce.

I am afraid we are gradually entering a period of Abacha like secrecy on how our national resources is being spent.
I hope those stealing our money die like Abacha so that Swiss bank will repatriate all that they stole from the people.

Like I usually said we are growing, the only achievement of GEJ is signing the FOI bill which I believe is enough to question our leaders. Now it is time we use the FOI to help ourselves against Buhari adminstration. With time we will hold our leaders accountable. We are back in 1960 -1970 were we are about to 'take-off' but the military distrupt the process.
