I just heard a story of an innocent man convicted for murder and jailed for 30yrs. now the question, What if a man is jailed for 30 yrs for killing a friend and after serving 30yrs in prison he was released, and he then discovered that the friend is alive and that it was all setup maybe just to get him out of the picture, does he have the right to finally kill that friend and not be charged for murder since he has served the punishment. PLS what does the Nigerian law say about this.

God forbid o. it didn't happen to me o. was just wondering. but guy u wicked o. after serving 30yrs in jail u expect the person to still be on nairaland?

If I be the judge sha, I will seize all what the false accuser owns and give to the guy that was jailed. Then make the state pay compensation to the guy too.

Ever heard of double jeopardy? You can't be prosecuted for the same crime twice! So you have licence to kill

While 7footre is right in saying you can't be punished twice for the same crime. My thought is that won't it be better to return to the Court to seek redress? Apart from the compensation to be gotten, you also have the opportunity to have your name cleared of murder. I'll rather pursue the latter rather than seeking revenge.

How much compensation can cover for such damage? a whole 30yrs from one's live haba na to kill the friend o. cus what if he died in prison?
