Fayose's maddness is gone out of hand. He has demolished my marternal family house in Afao-Ekiti because our family has refused to be part of his madness.

Fayose ‘demolishes’ APC members’ family house

Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose is embroiled
in a fresh controversy in his home town of Afao-
Ekiti over the demolition of the Omotoso family
house at 7, Oke Iro Street.
In the demolition, which started at 3am, remains
of family members who were buried in the
building were excavated.
The family members are very furious over what
they called “Fayose’s act of impunity”.
Family sources said although the governor
claimed that the house was demolished to give
way for the construction of a new palace for the
Alafao of Afao-Ekiti, his real reason is because
most of the family members belong to the
opposition APC.
The family’s spokesman, who is also the APC
secretary in Amuwo Odofin Local Government
Area of Lagos State, David Oluwafemi Omotoso, in
a statement said: “On May 2 by 3am, government
agents bulldozed my father’s house which has
been in existence for over 100 years.
“The reason was that the house was ‘covering’
the palace.
“The land on which the new palace is built is part
of my father’s land.
“This is a case of sheer victimisation and
humiliation just because I am an APC member.”
The governor had earlier informed Omotoso of his
decision to acquire the house and land for the
building of a new palace but his request was
turned down.
Omotoso said the present site of the palace was
part of his family land, which they released a long
time ago for the palace.
“We, therefore, cannot release our only family
house, which had existed over 100 years and
where we have buried members of the family.
“Members of the Omotoso family and the town
were shell-shocked when they woke up on May 2
to find the building in rubble after Fayose’s
bulldozers brought it down at 3am.
“The most revolting action was the display of
some of the coffins excavated by the bulldozers.
“ As at the time of demolition, the house was
undergoing renovation,” Omotoso said.
Another uncompleted building located behind the
demolished building belonging to Mr. David
Omotoso, was also pulled down.
The rubbles were swiftly and clinically evacuated
before dawn.
Another member of the family, Mrs Bose Ige (nee
Omotoso), an APC member, also believes that
Fayose demolished the family house to punish
them because they belong to the APC.
“If a land or property is to be acquired, is it by
force and without compensation?
“Is Mr. Fayose acquiring our family house as an
indigene of Afao or as governor ?
“This is an abuse of power and oppression of the
highest order. My family will not take this lying
low at all.”
The governor’s aides, Idowu Adelusi and Lere
Olayinka, could not be reached for comments.
The duo did not answer their calls yesterday

You mean if a governor approaches u to sell your family inheritance that has been with your family for hundreds of years and your ancestors has been buried in the land, for the flimsy excuse of building palace for someone else and u declined with cogent cultural reasons.

.... the governor is right to come at 3am to demolish the structure and excavate all your ancestors earlier buried??

It is unfortunate that some people are still defending this fayose guy. Well, they should continue, Fayose cannot stay in office beyond 2018. After which, he will leave and somebody else will take over. Nothing is permanent.

Amosun demolished Thousands of houses in Ogun,Aregbe demolished houses,shops and other businesses to accomodate his road expansion,Oshiomhole did same in Edo,Ameaechi was not left out in Rivers,Ajimobi of Oyo forced Oyo indegenes out of their businesses through demolitions,Fashola also embarked upon wanton and massive destruction of properies in Lagos under the pretext of road construction.yet no one raised an eye-brow but suddenly Fayose did his own and he becomes a pharaoh. All of you criticising Fayose has no conscience.

But at least not for building a palace,mind you all the people that were affected in lagos and ogun were adequately compensated as long as they have proper claim of ownership.

we need to consider the two extremes to this problem.
1. could the location of the palace be shifted? the answer is NO! there hv been thousands of sacrifices n animal offerings, n fetish things which hv been performed over d yrs 4 various reasons in that palace. u can shift d location of the palace 4 space concerns but how r u going to locate n .
i must admit tho, that fayose would hv made a fine mafia lord had he been born in the italian city of vernice, in italy ous.

d palace needs to expand, there is no space n d only way to make that happen is to lobby families whose houses borders d palace.

2. could the family hv shifted grounds? yes n no. if what they only had to relinquish was sm spaces surrounding d building, I see no reason why u shdn't give ur king d space to build a befitting palace. But if the king was demanding they leave their structures for d sake of a beautiful palace then, he can go to hell. The yorubas have a tradition of burying the dead in corridors n rooms of their building n it smhw keeps them very close to the dead something which I really admire.

the govt shd hv allowed them to settle their scores. fayose is just too unstable. he often really doesn't know when to use force n when to dialogue, always acting on impulse n his first impulse is always violence.

If it were ur family house, u won't talk like that. It's my paterna family house.nd those things Fayose said in the news about not being involved are lies from the pit of hell. Let's even assume that the house was posing a threat, how about the graves? How wud u break open the graves of my grandparents, uncles nd cousin and bring out the coffins, what threat do they pose?

If the new palace is that important it should be shifted to another location, and not at detriment of another family and its ancestors, thousands of sacrifices notwithstanding!
