Well, i dont think i fall into the atheist category. I just know that i've come to realise that religous stories and all that are probably fairytales. I still pray but only with my immediate family because is see the power of prayer. it makes people worry less when they believe that it's all in God"s hands now. I'm not sure if i believe in God and spirits and all that and even if i do believe in God , do i want to believe in the christain God as portrayed in the bible? that's a topic for another day. My question actually came up because i was asked by "christians" in the office to say the opening prayer and usually i would have just mumbled something but for some reason (i think i didnt want to be asked again becasue if you agree to pray once, they will assume you are okay to be asked to pray a second and third and bla bla bla) i casually said, No thank you, Let someone else pray. That made me wonder, have you ever been told to pray by assuming christians? How do you respond to such requests?

Lol, first i think you are not fully an atheist tho just still maybe can be classified agnostic. . . but this is really a funny situation.

Most people around me know am atheistic, or irreligious at least so they don't ask me, even if they ask you, u can still do it after all u used to do it..so u know how to. .lolzzz..

As one who has worked under a Christian employee, I remain forever grateful to him for printing the above quote and placing at strategic points in the workplace.

It served as a constant reminder to all members of staff that matters of religion should not be mixed with secular work. Office is office.

As one familiar with the hypocrisy of the monster called Nigerian Christianity would predict, those who had an issue with thise were mostly Christians, especially those Pentecostal folk. They accused Oga of not being a true Christian, wondered why we didnt have morning prayera and at some point, some accused him of being a part of the occult.

If I should find myself in your situation, I would pray to my master Lucifer. Afterall, during the inter religious prayers, Christians pray in Jesus name and Muslims pray to their Mohammed/Allah. Why shouldnt my God be represented?

hahaha i did something similar once during my service year. i just said a prayer for all present to be guided in the light. i was even a devout christian then, what just irked me was the presumptuos manner in which christians tell you to pray

well i'm not exactly out there with my beliefs. Not sure i have the courage to share yet.

I was previously a jew both my parents.

I had witness such scenarios many times both formal and informal invents, what i actually always do was "am a jew, do u want it in Jewish mode" if yes, i will then activate the mode but never any yes.

As an agnostic athiest i am now, i can pray in any context especially official events. I now have nothing to regret now to compare to the time i was a jew. Jews have their special way of uttering their prayer.

Yes. I have found myself in this situation quite a number of times.
Once I was asked to pray at a gathering. The person who asked to say the prayers knew that I was irreligious, but wanted an opportunity to embarrass me.

I asked every to close their eyes and remain in silence, then about 30 seconds later, I said " god of our hearts, shine forth your light through us, that we may reflect your lofty ideals of love, kindness and honesty, amen".

When their eyes opened, I could see disappointment in the faces of many people, because obviously, I had forgotten to mention jesus in my prayers. A few had smiles on their faces.
I was loving it.

Later that day, the guy came to ask me why I didn't invoke Jesus in my prayers.
I replied by asking him whether Jesus was my Townsman.
No one bothered me for prayers ever since.
