You can do it as long as you believe in yourself. As long as you have the motivation to succeed at anything, no matter how difficult something is or maybe, you will succeed.

I'm being serious, you should urge them to do computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, megatronics engineering, etc. With those majors you can easily get a math minor.

Intrigue me though, what jobs besides a professor job can one get with a B.S. in mathematics? Unless he she wants to get into cryptography and the creation of cipher keys.

In computer science you meet mathematics, or when you program, do you not come across operations and symbols? For instance a simple php programme to calculate area of a triangle

So you see in maths you need computer science and in computer science u need maths

That's obvious, as I mentioned earlier if you study computer science you can easily obtain a minor in math. Majoring in mathematics though won't land you a software engineering position, a network engineering position, etc etc

My cs path had both types of courses, some of which was more technical and/or mathematical:

Computer Graphics (OpenGL) and Machine Learning utilized more math and was technical, including working with matlab and R ninjas who are maddened mathematicans

While my course on creating compilers was more technical but required only some math.

Not hard at all, it's easier if you enjoy it, though. Funny thing was, I got into CS by chance but I love it so much, I can't imagine doing anything else. You don't really need to be extremely good at math, you just need to be be able to think like a mathematician, i.e. problem solving thinking.
