Re: Ojukwu Never Imagined I'd Go To War - Gowon by TopGee:
There was a coup where they said Igbo officers killed leaders of other Regions, but still Igbo officers like Aguiyi Ironsi and Ojukwu stopped the coup plotters from killing more Northern officers and nobody commended these men. The Igbo officers only targeted some military officers who controlled strategic positions and civilian leaders. They never targeted children, women, civil servants, businessmen and women, the masses and market women. The Igbo officers had a pure coup, though bloody. It was only few officers that got involved but most Igbo officers did not support the coup. If they had, the North would have been wiped out.

However, when the North had their own coup, they started killing children, women, civil servants, students, young men and women, Igbo officers including soldiers and officers who had no control of any strategic positions. The Northern officers had a bloody coup too but they went ahead to commit genocide after they grabbed power. The Northern officers and soldiers joined those officers to kill Igbos. The intentions of the officers from the two regions were clear.

Gowon as the Head of States didn't stop the killings like the way Ojukwu and Ironsi did. So, Nigerians wanted Ojukwu to fold his hands and watch as the carnage went on weeks and months without stopping? They accused Ojukwu of starting a war even when Ojukwu did not participate in the first coup. It is only a coward that will fold his hands and watch his people being slaughtered without throwing a stone if you have one.

He is trying to explain that the counter coup, targeted at women and children was wrong and Ojukwu had to speak up for his people.
If Gowon had respected the Aburi Accord there would have been no need for a war or secession.

And what EXACTLY did Gowon failed to do with this damn accord that necessitated Ojukwu risking 3 million ibo lives for?

No, i don't! It's either you have an answer to my question or else just STFU.

Every day we keep hearing from you ibos that it was because Gowon reneged on the agreement contained in the Aburi Accord that compelled Ojukwu to send his people on a suicide run for which they still haven't recovered 5 odd decades after the fact. It's on record that Gowon actually fulfilled close to 95% of the stipulations contained in the accord with his Decree 3 (or cool. So, my question still stands: what was the big deal with the remaining bit of the accord that gowon did not honour that meant Ojukwu had to waste 3million ibo lives, for?

However, like most of your fellow emotionally conditioned clones, i bet you don't know as your lying greedy and mischievous leaders have bombarded your reasoning faculty with the slogan " On Aburi, we stand"........................

Gowon has not come out to condenm the decimation of his ethnic group by fulani herdsmen daily, he should continue to talk like *agbaya* while his people are gradually going into extinction
.

Well he did not say a thing about the Fulani decimating is tribesman but you should also talk the decimation of your own tribesmen by the Nigerian army. I would love to read about from you.

Every single tribe in the young nation then suffered immensely from that gratuitous war Ojukwu plunged us into just because

of his massive ego. A few of my uncles died in that war so it wasn't my intention to portray the loss as all one-sided.

Gowon should have wiped them out. If he had Nigeria would have been free from these red cap thieves, noise makers and these people who give Nigeria a bad name.

Gowon is a good man to be honest. I have no bitterness towards him at all. He did what he had to do as a soldier and leader of the country at that time.

God will bless him.

Why are just blaming only Ojukwu for the war, what of the killing of Igbos in the north then?

I will not blame Gowon for anything. He did what he had to do to keep the country together. Someone somewhere can not just wake up and create anarchy based on tribalism...

he tried that but couldn't succeed...Biafra lost because of the civilian especially children but head to head loss on the forces side was not encouraging

I once saw an old article that said "the Biafran have been wiped" then i look at the number of people who are of Biafran extraction now and i wondered whether there were really such casualty as people paint it to be(note: most people in this part practice monogamy)

You notice how no one has "liked" your post? It's because of Gowon part. Your "likers' are on secession mode and you will be rejected at the mention of anyone who is against it. Perhaps you'll do well to join them in their Biafra or Lowe Niger republic they plan to establish.

cheesy cheesy cheesy

Nigeria was and is still ashamed of FG casualties during the war. Gowon should respect himself he is old.
