This country Nigeria...nawa It's either Nigerians are chronic liars or we're crazy. I already know that Nigeria is crazy. How else can you describe a country that has preoccupied itself with such useless things as which ethnic group the speaker of the house of representatives will come from, and which Oba uttered the latest controversial comment in town. A country whose press has centered on such fickle topics since the elections ended that one would think Nigerians have met all their needs and have nothing left to talk about. Topics such as what sandals the presidents are wearing, which politician visited who, which one got married, which one insulted the other best, or gave the most witty reply, which one has the most beautiful wife! Have we gone insane? Oil prices have CRASHED, state governments CANNOT PAY SALARIES, have NOT PAID SALARIES FOR MONTHS, there is a BOKOHARAM INSURGENCY, A freaking BOKOHARAM INSURGENCY, NO PETROL at pump stations, and we're supposed to expect a drop in the production of electricity soon as if it's not bad enough already, but the press of this country called Nigeria does not deem it fit to push forward these issues and press our incoming leaders to solve them. Instead it leaves that to the international community and the international press, who surely must see us as crazy. Either we're as crazy as they think, or we're liars lying about our economic realities. Because if we keep complaining about electricity, fuel, safety, poverty, education, e.t.c but don't consider them important enough to consistently make headlines, day after day, week after week; if we don't consistently demand from the press to know the latest updates regarding these issues by reading and discussing and eating up those articles that talk about them the most, then we're truly liars, since our actions do not reflect what we say our realities are. |

Welcome to Transformation - where nobody gets punished for crime against workers. All you have to to do is programme technology so that when a governor goes to touch workers' salary, technology gives him electric shock and prevents him from stealing... |

kilokeys:That place na mystery, I swear....thinktanks and analysts nor understand those people. Na that yeye american 2014 film make me get interest in NK, and till now, I still dey wonder (more of awe, really) how d guy dey manage rule. @o.p, its called "learned helplessness". When animals (whether mice or men) suffer from things they have no control over, for a long time, they usually develop a feeling of helplessness. Soon, even things they can control seem out of reach. Na so we be. From colonization, to civil war, to dictatorship, we've had it rough. By the time we got to pseudo-democracy,it was quite late.....you really can't blame Nigerians. |
