You left a Diploma course at EKSU for a Degree course at NOUN? Not a bad decision. If I were in your shoes, I would have done the same, but I wouldn't expect the relevant authorities to bend the rules. NOUN is a part-time school. As such, her products are exempted from NYSC. As for Law school, that will be sorted out with time. But NYSC, it will never happen.

Says who? Education has nothing to do with age!

Last I checked, it was the Federal Government that created the University and accredited it in the first place; so, why unjustly exclude those who graduated at 30 years of age and below from serving the Nation? That's utter lawlessness! Let them obey the laws of the land and do justice to this issue...that's all!

Lawless Country! Smh...

Don't know why people are condemning and arguing over unnecessary things. Abroad there are many online schools and graduates fron these school are just like regular ones from full time ones. I guess NOUN should be same.I assume it is like what some universities do abroad. It is not a must one goes to regular school to study certain courses.
Technology has taken over many things.

What do they want with NYSC? Confused set of people
they want to be collecting the 19800 naira monthly allawance for one year, nothing more. Pooor Nigerians! Remove the monthly allowance and see wether any one will even concieve the idea of serving the so called father land (clarian call).

SMH. Weren't they aware of this before. Bunch of lazy students. Instead of them to read and pass UME, they went for short-cut.
Even with short-cut they read and pass their exams without exam malpractice and bribing their way to pass exams which is not obtainable in many conventional schools

Open university is different from all other conventional universities because open university was disgned as a "part-time" study centre and NYSC does not recognize part time students.

Let d students go and find something better to do joor
I suggest the creation of OYSC... Online Youth Service Corp! grin

NOUN was meant for part time studies through their distance learning programs so that older working class people can still go back to school and acquire their certificates, but its quite worrisome that nowadays, younger secondary school leavers who are supposed to pass utme and enter any of the over 100 universities(including federal, state and private) now prefer to follow the shortcut of graduating by going through the NOUN's distance learning. We all know that part time studies are excluded from serving cos they are not regular full time graduands. They berra just shut up, carry their shortcut gotten certificate and join the almost bursting labour market.

“We have seen all over the world that graduates of Open Universities are accorded front seat roll, they are seen as people who deserve first class treatment.
Where in the world are people who went to open universities given first class treatment ?

You cannot pass through an unconventional educational system where you bypass the stress of Jamb and post-jamb yet you want to enjoy the privileges enjoyed by the conventional ones.

The purpose of creating NOUN was not intended for lazy children but to promote adult literacy who are working and above NYSC age limit !

NOUN want to go for NYSC where Part-Time students are not even allowed to. U had it spelt out that no NYSC for NOUN graduates before u went ahead to purchase ur form after reading and agreeing to the terms and condition... who ever that demonstrate should be penalise. If anything can be done about this NYSC stuff, its a matter of the derectors of this program peacefully hold meeting with NUC to decide it if they may consider it. Let's stop taking laws into our hand and stop being clueless. Na so I see am

These questions need urgent answers.

1.Whats the purpose of creating NOUN?

2. Which kind of student can they admit?

3. Is the University really meant for adults or working class people above 30 years who couldn't get University education before they reached age 30.

4. If question 3 is yes, why do they admit young scholars btw 16 - 26 years?

5. Why is it not advertised that this school is not for young people who are eligible for NYSC so that young a scholars obtaining their form ll know that he/she ll not do NYSC?

Last Bullet

Hope the body of NOUN & NUC ll quickly come out & tell the students what they don't know in order to save the students from unnecessary headache.
NOUN Management has derailed from the fundamental and the motive of establishing the school. NOUN is only meant for adults, working class above the age of 30 years of age. Had it being they didn't give these young ones that can still write JAMB admission this yamayama will not errupt, imagine!!!!

NOUN is a school for mature working class people as such should not be entitled to NYSC. Also since it is a part-time programme and law is not supposed to be offered part-time they cannot be admitted to law schools. That is to say it's practicing lawyers that ought to pursue higher degrees in such a school. Even in conventional universities those in mature programmes are not supposed to serve but they have a way of manipulating it so they can serve. Please if you are not a working class person you have no business with NOUN. Go to conventional universities and graduate and serve. At best you can apply for exemption letters. You are not qualified to serve.

It a part-time school for the mature working class of a minimum stipulated age of say 30. It's graduates are not entitled to NYSC. They should beg to be allowed to apply for exemption letters for future political issues. Very young people going to the school are just deceiving themselves. They don't belong there.

You got it wrong nobody settle any lecturer cus they are not in charge of the students academic works rather they are called tutor whose job is to teach and leave, they don't even give assignments it is the school that give assignments called (TMA) tutorial mark assignment as a student you wrote and submit it online. The school have permanent staffs but they don't teach, the lecturers there are on part time basis
