Exactly , you can't afford to have thousands of men and wine with arms not to be taking orders from somebody.
It's a recipe for disaster.

Why have they waited till now, in saner societies the court martial would be quick and precise and the next step is to have their fellow men in arms from the same formation shoots them in the presence of everyone and every rank and file falls into line.
I remember the Punch newspaper interviewed scores of retired Generals, they were unanimous in their condemnation of these soldiers.
It is not allowed any where.

Useless military... So they are asking them to go and fight without equipment.
There's nothing that can justify their action.

My friend, what do you know? Who told you 99% of soldiers in Nigeria agreed. Look at this bloody civilian saying what he doesn't know. Wake up my friend! IMAGINE!!! angry angry angry
There's no condition that giv them the audacity to attack their superior.

They went to far.

The military is a zombie job and once an order is given an order is an order disobey it at your own peril.

You must obey the last order.

This is from the US army:

(a) "Any person subject to this chapter who--
(1) with intent to usurp or override lawful military authority, refuse, in concert with any other person, to obey orders or otherwise do his duty or creates any violence or disturbance is guilty of mutiny;

(2) with intent to cause the overthrow or destruction of lawful civil authority, creates, in concert with any other person, revolt, violence, or other disturbance against that authority is guilty of sedition;

(3) fails to do his utmost to prevent and suppress a mutiny or sedition being committed in his presence, or fails to take all reasonable means to inform his superior commissioned officer or commanding officer of a mutiny or sedition which he knows or has reason to believe is taking place, is guilty of a failure to suppress or report a mutiny or sedition.

Consequences:
(b) A person who is found guilty of attempted mutiny, mutiny, sedition, or failure to suppress or report a mutiny or sedition shall be punished by death or such other punishment as a court-martial may direct."

No country that would allow its soldiers to revolt, recipe for disaster.
*sigh*
I weak like FriedPlantainsad

I just did some reading up.

Am I permitted to plead their cause?

What if these men, as a result of the rut going on in the system thought it unrueful to just go and die like that.
What if they were well aware that there were moles in their division and that they were actually being sent on a journey of no return.

Bro, even if I swore to serve this nation faithfully onto death, if the people I've entrusted my life to won't value it, would I be asking for too much for trying to defend this life of mine.

What if they are not all guilty?

What if some of them were just at the wrong place at the wrongest of times?

Y'see, when the drug offenders in Malaysia were killed, all through the drama, leading to the final day...
I don't remember uttering a word condemning their killing....somehow I felt it was justified.

It's just I'm never one to show a brazen support for termination of life by fellow humans.

Forgive my overt emotions on the topic, but I see the apparently wasted on the streets and regard their lives as sacred, how much more this handsome, agile looking men.

You should see my face now, it feels like I'm talking to you face to face.

Well, it's the military, not democracy.
Let what needs to be done, be done. sad

In the military you always obey the last order even to the death.

No country around the world takes it lightly .

Most countries would have them shot within 24 hrs to send a message to the entire formation that this can't be tolerated and you have a constituted authority in place.
They should shoot them asap and keep the sanctity of the military intact.
Ok Thanks.

Therefore ur argument is false.

You never cease to impress with your views but I believe your opinion was influenced by you being a woman and a civilian.
They knew the consequences yet went ahead with the foolish and deadly idea. I feel sorry for their loved ones nonetheless.

no one is saying dey didnt commit an offence. Read d article again. Falana said 1. Dey were not allow to appeal because deir sentence has not be confirmed. Which is over due.
2. Secondly, d soldiers were being starved underground

Separate the wheat from the chaff, the lawyers are doing what they were paid to do, seeking sympathy is one of the oldest tricks in jurisprudence.

Even the greatest democracy in the world America don't condone mutiny, treat them with kid gloves and see results of the signal you're sending to the rest law abiding soldiers.

They refused to fight for a Christian president, why should Christian soldiers fight for Buhari in future?
what do u mean by Christian president. Dis is what i don't like about d people of dis country. Majority of dese sentenced soldiers are Christians from north central for ur information.

Is it that you can't read or lack comprehension? Falana states clearly that the the army act says the FG will arm soldiers adequately. The soldiers protested that they were not adequately armed. Is the army, and by extension, the FG, not culpable? During the same period, didn't the FG say it's facing difficulties buying arms to fight Boko Haram?
