Clarifications and corrections - DAILY MAIL

An article on 16 May reported that a Nigerian restaurant was shut down for serving human flesh, based on a BBC Swahili report. BBC Swahili has now confirmed that the story was incorrect and the article has now been removed from our website.

BBC

“The story about the Nigerian restaurant which we published here was a mistake and we apologise. It was incorrect and published without the proper BBC checks. We have removed the story and have launched an urgent investigation into how this happened.
The BBC Swahili service’s reputation for accuracy and balance remains of paramount importance to us and we are taking the appropriate steps to insure that mistakes like this do not happen again.”

Why is the cable apologising on behalf of BBC?

Doesn't BBC have a website of theirs?

Idiots. The whole world is always so quick to publicise negative news about Nigeria without the proper background checks.

In the areas of crime, so many people are tagged Nigerians once they are blacks and when they commit frauds or steal something, the world blames us. The Nigerian immigration offices across the nation should be applauded for their dedication and commitment to hardwork for making sure anybody from Togo, Cameroon, or even Niger republic can get our passport as long as they settle. . .

This is how they have succeeded in planting seed of hatred in us.

I'm sure they were quick to put it on their website because bad news sells, especially when it's from Africa.

Even though their prior action still leaves a bitter taste in our mouth, but they didn't find it difficult to apologise.
Ask AIT, NTA, Sahara reporters to apologise undecided

Have they done it before?
Will they ever do it?

stop transfering blame. A yoruba man wrote the tale on Osundefender to shame Igbos. All 'the whole world' did wrong was trust our journalists.

They wont broadcast their apologies, failures and correction like the did broadcast the false inhumane news. will their apologies make headlines like the news?
This damage is irreparable, and Africans would rather headline bull*s*hit* than their grievances towards this. This could drive away investors, we should show people overseas that we are not as bad as we are portrayed. Imagine, the wife of a man who came to nigeria from US told him to increase his life insurance before going to nigeria, since her pleas for him not to go fell on deaf ears. she said she would use the insurance to take care of their children Incase he died. Seriously SMH
