Can someone become an indigene of a state in Nigeria by virtue of residing there for a particular length of time? Let's say I am originally from Delta state and I've resided in Enugu for more than 10 years, is there an existing process (like obtaining necessary papers) that will officially make me an indigene of Enugu state? That is, having dual 'indigeneship'. Is that possible? What are the criteria? |

No you Can't become.an indigene by virtue of staying in aanother staate for 10 Years. You no get Village? Are you an ibo man? Its the ibos that are looking for every opportunity to be indigenes of Yoruba States, especially Lagos State. |

Alcatraz001:The 10 years was just an example. I'm talking of dual indigenship. It's not about whether I have a village or not. The people that go to America to seek for citizenship also have their home countries. And bringing up the issue of Igbos and Lagos, that was not necessary. You are just trying to stare up tribal war (the latest trend on this forum). That's immature. |

NOBLEDANDY:Which state are you talking about? I just gave an example up there. And by the way, if it were possible, I think someone should be able to reside in any part of that state. |

@ op You are correct, and by Nigerian law, I think the stipulated duration is 10 years (not very sure). BTW, please learn to ignore distractors with no contribution(s) on your thread. |

xreal:Oh, so it's possible. I guess I'll have to find out the correct criteria. Thanks. |

You apply through the local government and you are not allowed to have dual state indigeneship. Tribal and religious considerations make it difficult to get citizenship of states outside yours. |
