FUEL CRISIS: Buhari's First Test by Nobody: 4:48am On May 22, 2015
I think Buhari has a good first test on the fuel crisis. The epileptic supply with the pump prices ranging from N130 - N250 per litre needs to be resolved as the first test for the in coming government. Unfortunately APC told Nigerians that there is nothing like fuel subsidy. According to them it is GEJ and PDP's corruption that has made fuel price to be as high as N87. Even Tam David West recomputed the landing cost to about N37, arguing that fuel could sell at N45 per litre.

Now my questions are, how is this government going to resolve this?

Will they remove subsidy? Or will May 29 usher in the continued fuel scarcity?

If subsidy is removed, will Nigerians accept it when they rejected it in 2012?

How will this impact the already improvised Nigerians?

The coming weeks are pregnant, but Buhari has no excuse to fail. Nobody would excuse Buhari if he cannot resolve the fuel crisis within the first month in office. To me, this is his first big test.

Buhari needs more than 1 month to resolve the fuel crisis. we need to repair the refineries and build more refineries to meet our fuel demand

I am talking about long term and permanent solution. If clueless GEJ had repair our refineries in the last 5 yrs we wont have been experiencing fuel scarcity

Exactly.

Btw, I think Buhari should simply remove the fuel subsidy, after all, we've been buying fuel without subsidy a few days now. This subsidy should go, govt put palliatives in place, repair our refineries....with time things will get back to normal. We just have to endure a while for this nation to progress.

It's well with Nigeria... It's well with Buhari.smiley

Unfortunately, I do not think that a month will solve this problem, there are so many factors involved in fuel scarcity that an impending solution is almost unimaginable. What needs to be done at this moment is that the petroleum marketers need to be compensated. The billions of naira supposedly owed due to the subsidy, AKA the biggest scam of the century, needs to be paid. Marketers are hoarding fuel because they haven't been paid.

We cannot be saying that the subsidy payment is a SCAM from one part of our mouth and the same time advocating paying the marketers. Truth is that subsidy is there however, since APC believe there was no subsidy, I am not sure how they will explain to Nigerians that what they said earlier was a lie. We are waiting for Buhari to tell us his direction on this. However, I learnt that Baba has jetted out of Nigeria.

When I say that it was a scam, I didn't mean to imply that it was non-existent. It did happen, and citizens enjoyed it, at least for the most part. But it was a measure that was poorly executed, and most were led to believe that it was going to be a measure without consequences; however, there have been consequences, and the current fuel scarcity is a one of them.

Exactly. ..any attempt to increase fuel price in the name of subsidy will be rejected by Nigerians. ..
