This is a question thrown to me by a JSS 2 student of Chrisland College while I was on a private home coaching assignment. If it were you, what will be your answer with thorough explanation? Source: www.ebiag.com |

ebiagforum:it only qualifies as gas. |

Fire is a gas i thinks sir |

Combustion of inflammable gas or liquid or solid is fire. Technically it's a gas cos the combustion process utilises gas ( O2) and gives off gas also |

There are enough reasons why it is not gas par say. Gas molecules are free to move as soon as they are not in a confinement but the fire on a candle wick will keep on being on d week as long as nothing touches it. Gases don't die off, they only spread but fire dies off when you blow it with CO2 feran14: |

ebiagforum: I think Fire is a Gas... Just think of fire as steam, a steam has the potential to raise the temperature of any material it cums in contact with finitesimally or infinitesimally, likewise fire has such ability too... Steam is hot but fire is hotter, Steam has a cloud-like color, fire has yellow, blue or any colour depending on the ions present in the source of the fire... D source of steam is water or liquid, source of fire is combustible carbon compounds.. Steam is a gas... And fire can also be think of as a coloured hot gas. Fire isn't trapped by its source, it only keep evolving off its source, d fire molecule u see on a candle wick at time(t1) isn't the same u see after time(t2) and since carbon compounds burn to yield carbonmonoxide or carbondioxide, then fire can be think of as a catalyst for that process of carbon forming CO2 or CO... |

Fire is none of these things, rather it is pure energy . |

Gurgle:but hope u know it has to be one out of d 3? Matyer is anytin dat has that occupies space and those are d only 3states of matter tho, and fire occupies space making it a matter.... Xo therefore madam wey they work For Google but never collect salary b4,,..... U gotta choose one, to me fire is visible gas |

CUM4WHAT:what! I just realized youre the guy who usually types "nonsense" on every post ok because you actually wrote back to me let me sit and think about this very well |

ok I would say that what we see is actually particles in the air releasing kinetic and light energy. that is the gas but the actual fire that is driving this event is pure energy, which cant be categorized in the way OP is suggesting |

Fire is a COLLOID |

CUM4WHAT:No it doesn't have to be one out of d three because there is something also called plasma. Maybe it should be one out of the four rather. |

ebiagforum:oh yeah you are right sir...i remembered my lecturer once told me that...heard it is not yet been finalise though? |
