Achiles:
You have quoted AWO out of context. He never meant that Nigeria was not a country. He only meant to express how woefully we have failed as a country in term of Nation Building.
Where is your source for this article? I had earlier asked for it but you never responded.

The reason I like politics as played by the Southwest is the relevance attached to welfare of the masses and interest of Nigeria as a whole. Awolowo did what is naturally done in a war situation as you cant be feeding and arming your opponents. If this interview actualy took place then I will assume Awolowo admitted his role and how incosequential it was.

My major question is why he refused to declare Oduduwa Republic as agreed with Ojukwu before his release.
Please, can you provide proof of where and when Awo told Ojukwu that he's going to declare Oduduwa republic on his release?

AnambraDota:
My problem with Awolowo is that he said that Nigeria is just a mere geographical expression but when the opportunity for him to have his dream country he chicken out, few years later he didn't ask for restructuring of Nigeria to make a truely a country he wanted to rule the same geographical expression like that.

That is why God cursed him, he begged to rule just a day but no way, like Lazarus and the rich man.
And what opportunity was that? Please, expatiate.

I will comment to ur post because i see u as a sensible and respected person from d east, unlike millions of dumbs i know on this site.

Pertaining d question u asked,to be candid Awo never agreed to declare oduduwa republi. Alongside ojukwu biafra republic..... .he only said if the east seceed the west will follow, and he adviced ojukwu that the battle will not be won, because all artilleries to prosecute the war were stationed in d north, and few in the south especially in ibadan was headed by most northerners and the won in lagos is controlled by the govt of gowon......so no reasonable point to win d war without the backing of strong external forces from d west or USSR as of then, and he advised ojukwu to go back to the parliament and discuss by instructing d eastern representatives to vote in favour of separation, and d west will follow by suppprting the motion, which can even lead to britain house of common as our colonial masters that joined us together to tell them we are no longer intetested to be together, and 2/3rd has voted against our unity which ia what is required then, with that we can successfully push our separations without going for a war we are ill prepared and we cannot win, also destruction of lives and properties becase d north controls d military as at then,d discussions was made in the night and,wen ojukwu paid an emergency visit to awo at ikenne after he was released and awo also met with him at enugu, and they agreed on followimg d path, but suprisingly ojukwu declared independent of d biafra nation. .....with this awo hand was tied because he was already working with govt.....now answer dis question objectively......AS IF BEEN AWO WAS WORKING WITH IRONSI AN IGBO MAN AS THE HEAD OF STATE AND AN OPPOSITION IS COMING FROM THE NORTH,WILL U PREFER AWO TO SUPPORT THE OPPOSITION AGAINST THE GOVT HE WAS SERVING?

Awolowo tried his best. He had to make a tough decision. The simple truth is that Ojukwu used the biafran children as pawns. This is the same question I've been asking: how come the children were starving and the biafran soldiers were not? Ive

Shut up.
Nigeria is not the first country to engage in a civil war.
If starvation was used by abraham lincoln in the american civil war, i don't think america would be one country today.
Go and read up on the american civil war and see why Nigeria will never develop.
Did you see German soldiers sending food to Russians during the siege at Stalingrad? Most of you are dumb.

Tell me where 2 warring sides would be sending food to themselves

You are a nincompoop.
So the german -russia war was a civil war?
What university did you graduated from?
If starvation was used as a tactics in the american civil war, you think there will be a USA today?
Which civil war in history have you seen starvation been used as a valid tactic?
You block the borders to effectively starve to death the millions of people you claim to want to build a country with, and you expect them to just move on.
Grow some brain cells before quoting me.

A historian’s new look at how Union blockades brought about the defeat of a hungry Confederacy
In April 1861, Lincoln ordered a blockade of Southern ports used by the Confederacy for cotton and tobacco exporting as well as for the importation of food. The Army of the Confederacy grew thin while Union dinner tables groaned and Northern canning operations kept Grant’s army strong. In Starving the South, Andrew Smith takes a gastronomical look at the war’s outcome and legacy. While the war split the country in a way that still affects race and politics today, it also affected the way we eat: It transformed local markets into nationalized food suppliers, forced the development of a Northern canning industry, established Thanksgiving as a national holiday and forged the first true national cuisine from the recipes of emancipated slaves who migrated north. On the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Fort Sumter, Andrew Smith is the first to ask “Did hunger defeat the Confederacy?”
Only fools like your ancestors would go to war and expect their opponents to feed them. Mumu

I thought this thread would have exceeded page 2. Well facts and truth can never die.

I mean what moral grounds does a tribe who have contributed largely to the mess we are in as a nation, turn around and see themselves different, and a people of progress when indeed they have contributed their own quota of taking this nation backward.

First coup was started by this same tribe, who thought they were better than other tribes in government. This no doubt bred the hatred that we still see day-in, day-out, yet they still want to plunge the whole nation into a state of anarchy with their narcissistic personality disorder (NPD).

They claim to be fighting for a peaceful breakaway yet their mere mortal, so called "leader", charges them daily to stock a pile of arms. One wonders who they intend to use it on.

But thank God we're not God, we are not supreme, we are not all powerful or all knowing neither are we omnipresent. We are just mere mortals, living with a borrowed breath from the creator and if HE the creator be with them (Biafran Agitators), then nothing will stop Biafra but if God be against it, we know HE'S able to prepare a much more sophisticated AWO.

For the sake of the innocent, I hope and pray God is with them.

GOD BLESS NIGERIA.

I think our generation seems to be more interested in word of mouth rather than empirical evidence. Awo remains one of my best Nigerians of all time. when people go to war, you fight to win. Our brother from the east should stop blaming Awo for the loss when historical fact indeed showed he did his best for the east while the war lasted.
