Will They Continue Heading This Organisations. by TheLaughter(op): 9:01am On May 29, 2015
Nigeria Minister for Petroluem is the current President of OPEC and her colleague, the Minister for Agriculture just got elected as the President of ADB.

Since their term as Ministers end today, will they be allowed to continue in these capacities or the incoming Ministers of these respective ministries will take over? Or these organisations will conduct yet another elections.

I really need answers. Thanks

Yes @OP: They were elected to head those organisations on their individual merit and not because the positions were awarded to "Nigeria".
Lmaooooo

Adesina was elected as president of ADB but Allison was not elected to be president of OPEC.
The president of OPEC is like the chairman of ECOWAS. It is occupied by the president/minister of the country that was given the title hence the moment Allison steps down as the Nigerian minister of Petroleum, she ceases to be the president of OPEC

As widely reported in the media, President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari is under intense pressure to retain the controversial Petroleum Resources Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke in her portfolio after he takes power next May 29. Those lobbying the president-elect argue with emphasis, that Alison-Madueke should be allowed to complete her term as president of the oil producers’ cartel; the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).

in d case of opec,is not individual merit, nigeria petroleum minister cannot be in opec with madueke at d same meeting, it is one representative from member country.

I thought one of the criteria for those positions is being a Minister of the said ministries...
