Abuja – The United States is prepared to send military trainers to Nigeria to help new President Muhammadu Buhari’s armed forces improve their intelligence gathering and logistics,Reuters reported yesterday, quoting a senior State Department official. Strains between U.S. military advisers and the Nigerian army over human rights abuses and corruption under the Jonathan government undermined cooperation in efforts to counter the six-year-old Boko Haram insurgency. The State Department official said Buhari and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry would discuss future security assistance and expanded economic ties in a meeting on the sidelines of Buhari’s inauguration yesterday . The official, speaking on condition of anonymity said initial talks with Buhari indicated he wanted a “close relationship” with the United States. “We have every indication that we’ll be able to start a new chapter. We continue to have advisers there … what I’m talking about would be new advisers in areas where we would expand.” http://thenationonlineng.net/new/us-ready-to-send-military-trainers-to-nigeria-in-boko-haram-fight/ |

This guys are not ready to sincerely help us, they always have a hidden agenda . Why did they prevent the Israelis frm training us in guerilla tactics , why did they ban us frm acquiring weapons during the heat of boko harams onslaught . PMB should dine with them with a very long spoon . |

We need all the help we can get, and I believe PMB as C-in-C is experienced enough to examine all the terms of the assistance and reject outrightly, any that threaten our sovereignty and are not in parallel with our best interests. What we should emphasize upon is technology transfer and 'train the trainer programs' and not just combat, intelligence or operational support, essentially teaching us to fish instead of being handed fishes. While we should be cautious is our dealings with the west, we should also be wary of throwing out the baby with the bathwater. Change is here. |

Anyone who thinks the Yanks have the interest of a united Nigeria at heart needs his head checked. Where have they been? Why refuse sale of arms to us at desperate times? Why refuse to share intelligence at critical times? Their Plan A on the disintegration of Nigeria has failed... thanks to GEJ. Now they are on plan B. We've dealt with the bokoharam scourge and we are in the final phases of mop-up..... we need no US support US should take their training to Libya, Syria, Iraq and provide more support on the fight against ISIS. Once US gets involved in your fight...... it never ends and always has sorrows and innocent deaths trailing their paths. |

R0ckefeller: I learnt something iin economics bruv, NEED n WANT.NEEDS: are necessities iin life, you cannot do without em while, WANTS: are things uu wish uu could av... From the above; a common man's NEED to be met by buhari iis completely in the hand of the western big wigs, n these ones will prefer GMB to dance to their tune b4 he gets anything from them, unfortunately the only thing we can make shakara with iis oil n currently oil iis everywhere. On the other hand we don't want to partner with Russia or N.korea, they are never to be trusted. But when man fails there iis one that never fails #GOD |

vimi:homie what you wrote up there make me say the west is a 'NEed' for african nations not 'want' because if he(pmb) want to accomplish all what said he need to work with the west and be able to make some sacrifice or else............. And the only way to avoid the west a little is to manipulate russia and co to work with him. About oil my nigga gboju o because in the next 15 to 20 years time oil we be at is lowest value the west are developing a lot of stuff(most of which are still undergoing a lot of test) which won't require most of what we get from crude oil. Man only GOD can help when you say you aren't going to work with the western world. |
