Protect Him Against Impeachment

The Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, cried out to his supporters yesterday to occupy the streets of Ado-Ekiti in order to prevent the State Assembly lawmakers of All Progressives Congress from impeaching him.

During a live television broadcast on Monday evening, Governor Fayose implored the Ekiti people to stop the 19 APC lawmakers from sabotaging true governance.

Ekiti State politics has been in a state of crisis for several months, as impeachment proceedings intended to remove Governor Fayose from office have ebb and flowed. If these proceedings successfully impeach Fayose it would be the second time he was impeached from office. Governor Fayose was disgraced by when the Ekitigate scandal, first broke by SaharaReporters, revealed that he had rigged the Ekiti State governor election in his favor. Since then, Governor Fayose has suppressed voters in both the national and State elections held this year.

During his televised address, he asked for motorcycle riders and other organizations to rally support for him to prevent State lawmakers from carrying out their threats of impeachment.

Mr. Fayose said, "They have come again and you people should not allow them to spoil Ekiti State."

This conflict between Governor Fayose and the APC lawmakers has been long running since Fayose's dubious election in 2014.

As part of his reconciliation plan, Fayose agreed to pay the seven-month salaries of the lawmakers. Acoording to Mr. Fayose, the money was paid via checks on May 26th, 2015.

Governor Fayose believes that the lawmakers’ decision to continue impeachment plans is a chaotic decision that will be fully resisted by the people of Ekiti.

However, Wole Olujobi, the Spokesperson for the lawmakers, said there is nothing illegal about the impeachment process that they are following.

"If he (Governor Fayose) is not guilty, that is the end. If he is guilty, the law must take its course."

"What the APC lawmakers are doing is pure application of Nigerian Law. There is nothing forceful about it."

Earlier on, Governor Fayose's PDP called on President Muhammadu Buhari to interfere with the impeachment proceedings.

The PDP has warned the lawmakers should be careful and not take advantage of their positions. The PDP has stated they will defend the governor with all the resources of the law.

is this all you've gat to say?I thought u will write up a lengthy sermon as usual as to why he mustn't be impeached.... u guys are just hypocrites,ekiti gate and weird advertisement which is against the ethics of advertising and u people keep cheering him now that the law should take it's full course, u believe he should be left alone right?
