The legal age for having sex in Nigeria is not 11 years as reported by some bloggers

Below is a screenshot of a portion of the sex offences bill passed recently by NASS, stipulating the punishment for defiling a child.

Note that a person has to make effort to determine that someone is up to 18 before having sex with them

This is the reason I don't like reading the constitution. Which one be: 11yrs or below, 12-15yrs, 16-18yrs? Why not say under the age of 18?

Its in sections, I don't know why they do it like that. If the punishment were different for different age groups, it would be understandable. But I don't know why, maybe for easy quoting

False news always spreads faster .

I never really saw the entire content or provisions of the bills passed. But i fell for the earlier conclusion when i remembered that Yerima and friends are still senators. I knowbetter npw
