This is what I don't like about Nigerian politicians,just because Dogara is not having his way now,he is denigrating the same party that he rode on her platform few months ago. APC adopted the best democratic procedure to settle internal party disagreement,yet he is complaining. Supposing APC adopted PDP pattern of imposition in the name of consensus candidate,what would he have done?

The Yakubu Dogara group in the House of Representatives has released yet another statement condemning the leadership of the All Progressives Congress.

In a statement by the group signed by Abdulmumin Jibrin,it lamented that “The APC leadership keeps telling the public that an election was conducted and Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila got 154 votes while Hon. Yakubu Dogara got 3 votes; this is a blatant lie and fraud, and it’s shameful for the APC leaders to descend so low.

“The mock election actually showed that APC has made a mockery of itself because we walked out of the venue even before they perpetrated the illegality. Hon. Dogara was not in the hall as at the time they said he was nominated but the APC leaders planted someone who impersonated one of us and another person was also planted and he accepted the nomination. This is fraudulent, shameful and dishonest. It was all arranged and done by APC leaders.

“We never participated and we rejected the election because it was not in tandem with the spirit and letters of the constitution. The numbers allocated to us was a fraud, and we do not accept it.

“The stability of the House is very important and the House needs to be left alone to elect its speaker. We will never allow the number four citizen of this country to be pocketed by one selfish and greedy individual.

“We want a courageous speaker who is free from the apron strings of a godfather and not one that will create special bedroom in the pocket of an individual.

“After such huge intimidation, blackmail and inducement we are not surprised that they gave out such a number. On Tuesday, the real picture of the strength of our candidate – Hon. Yakubu Dogara – will emerge.

“We are shocked and surprised that barely two weeks after taking over as the ruling party, is this the change we want to offer to Nigerians? Is this the departure from the past that Nigerians want? We have never seen this kind of manipulation in the political history of Nigeria. We are being intimidated and threatened because we toe the path of honour.

“We decided to follow our conscience and do the right thing for our country and we will not let this country down.
Despite the mockery of an election by the APC we are going ahead on the 9th June 2015 to nominate Hon. Yakubu Dogara on the floor of the House as Speaker.
They don’t understand the dynamics of an election of House leadership; this is the House of the Nigerian people, we are going ahead to nominate our aspirant who has what it takes to lead us. Dogara is stainless, and he comes with integrity similar to that of President Muhammadu Buhari.

“Due to the huge amount of threat and intimidation to some of us, we have decided to write a petition to the President of the Federal Republic to intervene and call the party leaders to order. We are very confident that the President will look at the matter in a very just manner.

“We are also going unveil our legislative agenda today by 8pm.”

Leadership is to dictate the direction of an organisation,you don't just wake up to query their sense of vision or else things may go bad. Imagine many of the elected representatives behaving like babies. How can you be in a house & you are destabilising the house. This is uncalled for from someone who claimed he is matured enough to become the number four citizen of this nation. Fro his conduct so far,he has failed. APC leaders won't tolerate disloyalty that I know. Look at the Governor of Lagos state today,at a point he was mandated to bow out of the system & he willingly complied.. This is how you know a good party man ..no matter what people are saying today Ambode is a tested party man. haha I have said it before and am saying it again. NO POLITICAL PARTY or one individual can bring change to this country. The politicians make up the political party. If you have corrupt politicians changing political party that does not change their heart. Corruption is a heart issue. Changing political party does not fix. #wakeupnigerians.

Which due process wasn't followed?APC called its members to elect who they want unlike the old practice of PDP were a name adopted by the president and some party chieftains is announced is this not democracy in action?For the first Party members are allowed to choose who they want via the ballot is this not CHANGE? People are referring to tambuwal in ignorance, because, majority of PDP members voted for tambuwal in 2011.If PDP as a party had adopted this style by APC in 2011,tambuwal would have won the primaries, because he had the support of majority of PDP members.

democracy is still at play, its normal for people to go head on for such position and so elderstatemen or party leaders to have vast interest in such positions and to manupulate their candidate success as far as the rule is not broken, and apc has not done that yet, they have not stop anyone for going for those position, they only try to protect their party interest. The PDP way is to suspend candidate or find a way to prevent candidate for participating in democratic process and if they have their way force a sole candidate on the people as in the case with pdp Presidential primaries.

accept your fate, your own party colleagues don't want you. Stop being a nuisance abeg. You can't force yourself on others when they don't want you or believe in you. That voting was open and transparent

It wasn't. Though I prefer Hon. Femi cos of his wider experience being the past Minority Leader (same for Akume in the Upper House), however everything must be done in a satisfactory, fair and competitive manner. Anything short of that will not permit anyone who emerges operate with a full mandate and you will not dare fly long distance with some engines out of action over hostile territory. The APC must sort this out quickly. The country counts on that.
