zendy:We should quickly begin to mark yoruba properties in Port harcourt and their businesses in Onitsha. So that it will be easy to pounce on them suddenly before they escape. If it gets to that. The time to write down where they are is now. Nobody should wait to do things haphazardly. Time to get organized is now! |

EUROBOMBER:Op, good morning sir. I know you're just waking up to the reality of the evil called Nigeria. |
| Re: Nigeria???????? by PhockPhockMan: 1:46pm On Jun 11, 2015 |
chamboy:Na by force to stand together? This past election has shown the high level of hatred Yorubas have for Igbos. I hate to talk about tribalism because i'm not a tribalist. The main anger of Yorubas about the election in National Assembly is because, Ekweremadu, an Igbo man was able to squeeze himself in the scheme of things. |
| Re: Nigeria???????? by jorlons(m): 2:20pm On Jun 11, 2015 |
@Op please be informed, the protest was in response to the siege some igbos in diaspora laid on the business of a Yoruba cardiologist in Dallas, Texas. Try re-reading the post on that thread again. Although, what the Doctor did by supporting the Oba's statement was entirely wrong, the corresponding action by the Igbos in diaspora was also wrong. Don't forget the Igbos in Nigeria condemned the words of Oba Akiolu and many well meaning Nigerians also joined them, heck some Yorubas didn't even support the Oba in his choice of words. The Igbos even threatened to report the Oba to the international criminal court for the statement, but it was understandable that they were angry. Taking it to diaspora to lay siege on the business of another Yoruba son was going too far if you ask me. Both tribes must stop trying to be superior to the other because they've both made very striking achievements in different field to the extent I wish my tribe had recorded the successes that they both have (although, I'm still proud of some of my tribesmen who have made outstanding achievements despite our small size) If the Igbos want out of Nigeria, why not come out openly about it. Perhaps make their position known to the presidency and also get our local newspapers to carry the stories of their struggle. Spreading hate and wanting to toe the violent line will be ultimately disastrous. Any region who wants to leave must do so peacefully. Cc Eurobomber |

PhockPhockMan:if u talking about the general elections, Yorubas voted out a clueless president. For the outcome of NASS election, we dont care whoever emerged the leaders, all we want is performance (how many yorubas has been leaders in Nass since 3rd republic). If u referencing to the faceless paid protest, den u should know dey dont speak for Yorubas not even for Lagos Yorubas. The Truth, we Yorubas need other ethnic around all we care about is d development of Nigeria Lesson for igbos, u guys should start being hospitable in some of ur cities, dis would hasten development. jorlons:protesters does not speak for d entire yoruba tribe, dey are on their own |
| Re: Nigeria???????? by Nobody: 3:03pm On Jun 11, 2015 |
Now, see how unwise it was for our politicians to ethnicise politics. Its an ill-wind that, either way, blows no one any good! What lesson did we draw from the civil war! J. K. Agbaje who, out of a blind desperation to be elected Governor of Lagos State promised the Igbo resident in Lagos a traditional ruler of equal status with the Oba of Lagos has to take some responsibility for this. No one expects the Yoruba to take that lying very still! Additionally, it is not out of place to say the Oba of Lagos needs to do more to assure the Igbo of their safety whichever way they choose to vote. One expected him to reach out to the Obi of Onitsha with any angst he has about the Igbo saying "Lagos is no man's land'. The Ohanaeze Igbo must also weigh in on this matter before it snowballs into a big one by reminding the Igbo "There is no doubt at all that there is a strand in contemporary Igbo behaviour that can offend; by its noisy exhibitionism and disregard for humility and quietness" .............Chinua Achebe. Oh, I forgot that the Igbo are a fiercely republican people and may not be obliged to defer to any Obi or Igwe or distinguished Igbo Prof! We must give and take! Imagine Ex-President Reagan telling Americans during his Presidency "now that I'm President Irish interests will prevail!" Prof. Chinua Achebe as quoted above was spot-on about what the Igbo need do to ensure they are trusted and not cut down to size anywhere they are in diaspora. That's where the problem lies and Sociologists need to lend a helping hand! |
