OP is a learner, inasmuch as i dislike the role the Ikwerres played during and after the civil war, I do still understand the dialect(s) of Rivers Igbo than that of Abakaliki or Nsukka but .........

My colleages at my PPA told me that many residents of PH actually trade/work in aba and owerri wich was just a shutle away. My 2nd suprise was the lingua franca, having schooled in uniben I wasn't suprised to hear pigin being widely spoken, however I was shocked to hear igbo being speaking by many residents and majority of indigenes speak igbo as their lingua franca, infact my mums home town of afam in oyigbo LGA speak full blown igbo, I felt like a visited nnewi...

The real name of Port Harcourt is Igweocha. Do you still need to convince OP that its not an Igbo speaking city?

Born and raise in Obigbo. Somewhere along Afam road from the Afam junction on the Old Aba/Port Harcourt Road. Some goons on the nairaland will tell you that Eleme and even Afam are Ogoni.

I won't blame it on you anyways. Many a Lagosian are exactly like you are. They would be very dumb about reality, but will be online acting as if they know the whole of Nigeria better than people who physically transverse the width, breadth and length of this country everyday for a living. With all the TVs and internet at their disposal, it is still very disheartening that some of them are so dumb to the point that they think people live in stilted house in Bayelsa and that everybody who has passed through Warri is a rough, tough, badt guy...

The most annoying thing is that they'll still be acting and arguing so profusely in their stupidity that one has no choice than to just ignore them...

It is not. It was named after a town in Southern Ijaw LGA of Bayelsa State with the same name. Same goes for Sangana and some of the streets around that area...

The area you are referring to is not Port Harcourt, it is Obio/Akpor, sorry to say that you never got to Port Harcourt, it is by the sea and covered up to the boundary at Ogbunabali, which marks the beginning of Ekwerre. Its a pity you still can't tell where you maternal home is, what a shame...
