Won't this cause some unnecessary tension within the Paramilitary? #justasking
Arm-robbers and kidnappers cause major havoc impersonating the military by wearing such uniforms. Better to stop their wide-spread use by these other scums than fear "unnecessary tension".

Military camouflage is part of the art of military deception. The main objective of military camouflage is to deceive the enemy as to the presence, position and intentions of military formations. Camouflage techniques include concealment, disguise, and dummies, applied to troops, vehicles, and positions.

Nice one from the army, this will surely mitigate impersonation.

Thanks to a military minded president
But in Nigeria its used to show off
even the army guys dont know the use of such
the dunderheads think its for fashion

But l still wonder, as someone who has a few Camo that l wear, like other people, for picnic, camping, climbing and other outdoor activities why anyone, especially a "General of the Nigerian Army", think that "wearing a Camo".. equates you to anything like a personnel of the Armed Forces"?

"Camouflage" is an "action, a technique" used in the theatre of warfare......
Camouflage IS NOT a "design on a cloth" ....when worn by a civilian, in a civilian environment

All my kids have Camo at one stage or the other. It is in T-Shirts, Short Knickers, Face Caps, Underpants, Dungarees, Loafers, Socks, Trekkers, e.t.c. My neighbour has a Camo Tea-Cup.
It is not sown like a Military Uniform and does not have any known or official military Insignia.
My neighbours have and their children, even Grand Mama will wear her own when occasion demands.

Thus, l am wondering, and with due respects (my own blood brother is a Brig and l know what it takes)

1.) Is it that Nigerians are that gullible and ignorant that once they see anyone in Camo, They assume he/she is to be a member of the Armed forces?
2.) Are our Armed Forces members so insignificant, so "undistinguishable", non-special, that anyone thinks all it takes to identify them, is a Camo?

3.) Is our security and intelligence so bereft of ideas that they think wearing a Camo, takes so much away from it?

4.) Is the wearing of Camo, designed to instill fear amongst the populace and hence, reserved for the Military?

Is it not astonishing that in many "modern and civilized countries", everyone is free to wear a Camo, yet all the "perceived problems" that the BANNING OF WEARING CAMO is expected to solve (especially impersonation), are also solved in those climes.... without banning the wearing of Clothing materials with that design?

Ban this, Ban that!
What more needs to be banned, which of our liberties needs to be usurped, just for the sake of "a group of people" (important and respected group of course), to feel invincible or to massage their own Ego?

I am saying that the "Nigerian Armed Forces" can be who they are, be what they want to be, do what they need to do and achieve all they need to achieve, without denying every other person, the use of what is at best, a "design type" on ordinary Clothing.

Not too long ago, women were "banned" from wearing TROUSERS because it is the exclusive preserve of men....
But since women started wearing Trouser, did it make "men" ......less of a man or turned women, into men? NO!

Finally, it is NOT THE "CLOTH" (Camouflage) that MAKES A SOLDIER!.... A good Soldier for that matter

It is the discipline they show amongst their ranks, the fearlessness and commitment they display on the field of battle, the respect they hand-out to "bloody Civilians", the ultimate sacrifice they are sworn to make for fatherland..... that MAKES A SOLDIER

It is "When the significant becomes unattainable, ....that the insignificant becomes desirable ....and used as a distraction."

How does a pretty lady, wearing a "Camo Face-Cap" become (impersonate) a Soldier or deter a Soldier from performing his duties?
Where is the Insignia, where are the Epaulettes?, the Boots and even more, THE PERSONALITY?
These are what differentiates a "Civilian wearing a Camo", from a "Soldier wearing a Camo"!

Nigerians on the other hand should disabuse themselves of that "bloody civilian mentality", borne out of "GROSS, BLISSFUL IGNORANCE"...
and stop according unnecessary respect and awe (fear) to just anybody that wears a Camo.
Respect the Soldier... but the Camo is not to be respected. That is when it will lose its "aura of Armed Forces" wink

This order is ill-advised, unnecessary and an abuse of our right to decent clothing! It is Unconstitutional as well.

PS: No one should misinterprete my post, as a disrespect to our gallant soldiers. I just dont like mixing-up "fear" ....and "respect".
Anyone id free to critic my opinion but please take your time to "reflect properly" on the points made.

Can you recognize the "Insignia" of a Nigerian Armed Forces personnel on his Cap and Epaulettes on his shoulders/Chest?

If you dont see those, you have not seen a Soldier. Period!

And l am yet to see any kidnapper or Armed Robber that would get the liver to add those to a camouflage! undecided

We should not deny ourselves of simple liberties, due to our Ignorance!
