I understand that this will depend on the house measurements, however (Aproximately) How many blocks do i need from foundation to DPC/German floor of a 5 bedroom duplex (3 rooms up/two rooms down). 2 How many blocks can take it from DPC to lintel level before Decking. Please house, which is preferable? buy a hollow block (machine made) from factory or get a molder? Which one is less expensive considering quality too?

Considering quality the machine vibrated own is better and more expensive but u would have less damages but the handmade is cheap with more damages

I disagree to that hand made block is stronger cos this will be based on the numbers of blocks you want per bag, this days machine block mould is not all strong with this reasons

1:the dealer want to make money and with that he will increase the numbers of blocks per bag

2:before the blocks is being transported to site the blocks will be
weak based on the pot holes

But the one you mould on site will not encounter all this and you can reduce the numbers to give you a solid block

I am a builder and trust me on this it is the best
Re: Current Prices Of Building Materials In Nigeria by TAJIBADE: 12:10am On Jun 08, 2015
I would disagree with you on this, we cannot conclude that the handmade blocks are stronger than the vibrated blocks simply because the dealers want to make profit. On any given day, using the same materials and producing the same number of blocks, the vibrated blocks would remain stronger than the handmade blocks which have not had any vibration on them.

What I would simply advice is for the buyer to visit the site by himself and purchase the blocks he sees on ground, at least he would see the quality of what he is producing. And If he so wishes to get something better, he can request for special blocks of various kinds and should be ready to pay the price and avoid negotiating cheap.

Its my line of business and I know how we operate. Thank you. 08063683411

@TAJIBADE.....Great work on pics displayed,i totally agree and take side with you on your opinion. But if i may ask; what are the necessary material ingredients needed to produce a standard vibrated concrete hollow block? How would you combine these materials(per normal-sized wheelbarrow mix.) for each production of 9" and 6" respectively? And what is the minimum number of blocks/qty pa 1 bag of cement for same 9" and 6" that is of a recommended standard for any building site/project work? We will appreciate it more,if you can clarify with pics.

You need sharp sand, cement, stonedust(optional) or dagbolu(optional). The mix depends on how solid you want your blocks to be and if the blocks would be load bearing or non load bearing. You can use between 3.5 and 4 wheel barrows. The 3.5 wheel barrow would give u about 28/30 blocks depending on how full it is while the 4 wheel barrow should give u about 35/37 blocks of nine inches.

N.B The type of sand you use is also a key factor in determining how your block would look. Also your mixers need to mix very well.
I had tried posting a short video of the special and regular block when thrown on the floor but the video is too large.

Noted! And thanks for the expository. But you did not mention Plaster sand,or is it not a necessary material needed for a quality block production?
