my take on this would be state resource control and true federalism... meanwhile, airforce do aerial surveillance, the navy to protect offshore and territory waters and the civil and mobile police and armforces to do ground patrol and take on any threat.

Nonsense. This is a sponsored post by an OPC or Niger Delta Militant sympathizer who has benefited immensely from the Billions of Naira given to them by the GEJ administration. Your contract has been revoked and you can do nothing about it. The Nigerian Armed forces will now have to play its role in securing these pipelines properly. Lest you forget OP, the Military is now going to be heavily funded to deal with issues like this and with Buhari's interest in the Petroleum sector its no longer going to be business as usual for individuals who think they can milk the country dry due to their selfish interest.

P:S I am from the Niger Delta and not an APC Supporter but in the best interest of Nigeria, we have to move forward and i support this move by the President to cancel the contracts and secure it well with the armed forces.
God bless your generation. Out of those arrested by the so called militants, how many have been prosecuted? We all know that the last 3 month recorded the highest low in the vandalization of Gas pipelines leading to a drop in power generation. So they should stop spreading propaganda. My take is if a military personnel vandalizes pipeline, prosecute him, if a business man prosecute him, if a militant, prosecute him. Nigeria will be great again when we learn to prosecute offenders not minding whose ox is gored.

My take on this? A subtle plea to keep the contract with opc and the militants intact.
exactly what OP is trying to pass across

Hope the armed forces that are themselves poorly paid will not be the one stealing/vandalising the pipelines.

I don't see the sense in using ex militants to secure pipelines.

Firstly, When the militants were overtly bursting pipelines prior to the amnesty program, the quantity of oil stolen is the same as this time that they are guarding it. Goodluck's proverb of the goat and yam comes to mind.

Secondly, it is illegal for the government to commission murderers, thieves, criminals and felons to do the duty of security agencies. In saner climes, this is an impeachable offence.

Furthermore, it doesn't make economic sense for the government to pay these dumb thugs. Before payment, 400k barrels were being stolen. Now that security has been contracted to them, more than 400k is being stolen. Let us disengage the criminals and use the money to buy armor-piercing bullets for the military.

Let them go near d pipelines and the soldiers would show them 'change'.
It seems your education is a waste. Now tell me which is better fighting both pipe line vandalism and militancy or only fighting vandalism. What solution would you proffer, in this age, you should know that not even the military can do the job. technology should also be employed. Spilling of blood is more costly than pursuing vandals.

Mr president should better have a good plan.

My thoughts exactly.I wonder why GEJ didnt also give Massob contract to protect pipelines. It may have gotten him more votes. Nonsense!

Calm down. I won't retaliate your bad manners. Ask someone with a higher IQ than yours to read my post and explain it to you.

Aerial surveillance should do the trick. The FG needs to get the Air Force involved.
Extremely expensive! It's £600 an hr to sustain some fighter jets in the air

Whats lacking is simply punishment [ECCLE 8:11]

once they know they'll be punished if caught, incidence will crash!

if weshould go by your words,i dont think d security agents are qualified either. imean army cos amnesty internatnal justt implicated them for crimes againt humanity. the police, those ones r d worst. from collecting bribea to shooting innocent nigerianswhen their demands arent made. are you aware those jtf crew pay hugesum of.monies to be drafted to this zonescos they know how much is being made daily from illegalities n vandals. bobo nigeria isbad, n d bestway to catch a thief is to use a repentant thief.
