Recently, my younger son adopted two rabbits from a family friend. The male died two week ago, the female is nursing their only surviving kitten.

I discovered yesterday dat the female is leaner than before. I dont know if am feeding it right. We feed it withh wheat paste, cucumber,, little carrot nd its normal feed.

Pls if you anything about their care, advice. My son was incosolable when d male died, I want to help him keep this one healthy.

I hear that rabits shouldnt be fed carrots. Dont know how true. But why not give it that grass rabits eat? or ask the former owner what he fed them.

I feed my rabbits grower mash, sunflower, carrot, elephant grass at times..... But the loss of weight in the mother might be because she's nursing a youang one. If she eats verywell and still active then you need not worry

Thanks. I asked the fotmer owner what he fed them, he said rabbit feed which I tried to get from a pet store around my place without luck.
Yes, we do feed it with the grass too.

Sunflower is the key plant for feeding rabbits...

My rabbit won't even eat carrots

Now, male rabbits dying after mating or when the female litters isn't new...happened to me, happened to my girlfriend too

You can get it from those who sell chiken feed around you

If u can get Albers Rabbit Breeder Pak feeds.. Its a complete ration on its own and no other additional ration is necessary.. And if u can't get it, u can get the normal concentrates in pellets form... Its not advisable to give rabbits the normal concentrate cos of their nose or u can get poultry growers marsh and sprinkle some water on it b4 feeding... Its highly possible they contact nasal congestion if given the dry nd dusty feeds...

Meanwhile if u can't get d concentrate too.. U can get succulent forages and grasses, like Aspilia africana <goat weed>, Talinum <water leaf>, stylo grass, centro, Guinea grass or Elephant grass..

And please give them enough water.. Shortage of water can lead to retarded growth...
