I was on a drive back from Aba yesterday with my Mum when the conversation we were having led to the mention of this Radio Biafra which is currently airing on FM 102.1 in most South South and South Eastern states. Last time I heard of this Radio Biafra, it was an Internet radio station that didn't have that much of a following to warrant any real concerns, however I was shocked to find out that they were now a terrestrial radio station with a Frequency Modular bandwidth. Anyways, I tuned in out of curiosity to find out what they were all about and that was when the hair on the back of my neck stood. I couldn't believe what I was hearing.

For the entire period I was tuned into the station, it was back to back tirades against the current Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, raw undiluted anti-Semitic messages targeted mostly at the Yorubas, calls for the destruction of all Deeperlife Church posters, billboards and the burning and destruction of all Deeperlife churches in Aba and all Igbo Land, the stopping of any Deeperlife crusade from holding in Aba, calls for the Igbos to arm themselves pending when he (Nnamdi Kanu who was being referred to as director) would give the clarion call for the war to commence, calls for Igbos and the supporters of the Biafran cause to join their local chapter and contribute money to him (Nnamdi) to purchase arms to prosecute a war against the Government of Nigeria. The Nnamdi character freely spewed hate for Yorubas and Hausas, referred to Nigeria as a Zoo that they would destroy, e.t.c

At first, I just felt that this was a case of a Lunatic who seems to have found his way into a radio station, but my fears didn't rise until I heard the calls coming into the station from his growing followers. One of such callers actually said Hello Director, If Kumuyi steps into Aba, I WILL KILL HIM". Another caller said he was a technician of sorts and was willing to offer his services to help build a bomb to destroy Nigeria and the Nnamdi character took his number and promised to get in touch with him. The calls kept coming in and it was just caller after caller pledging support for the cause of this deranged man. It didn't matter that the Nnamdi Character sounded rude, arrogant and full of himself and obviously had a thirst for power, it didn't matter that he was insulting and disrespecting most of the callers who dialed in, more people kept calling.

Now my reason for starting this thread is to use this medium to bring the attention of the Government to the birth of a New Terrorist group in the South East.. I couldn't help but remember that this was exactly how the Boko Haram menace started, First it was just an Islamic preacher who was also doing Charity works and feeding his followers, then it grew into a militia that has cause the death of over 15,000 Nigerians and counting. Please those with the right connect should inform our security agencies. Whilst listening, most of the callers were reading out their phone numbers over the air and I was wondering if someone is noting down these numbers and placing taps on them and placing the owners on the terrorist watch list.

I would be honest and say that this Biafra Radio broadcast really troubled me. One of our workers who is a listener and was a follower only changed his views after I managed to explain to him the implications of what this Nnamdi Character was soliciting. The Nnamdi fellow is not hard to catch, below is a picture of him I pulled off of the Internet. And it seems he freely enters and leaves Nigeria as he pleases.

I really hope someone in a position of authority hears this message and acts on it fast before things get to the point where we now have to start doing damage control at which point many innocent lives would have been lost. Let's use the Lessons learnt from the Boko Haram case and the arrest and murder of Mohammed Yussuf to find a way of finding, arresting and shutting down this Terrorist Group. Today we may think it's just a radio broadcast, but if half the callers I heard were not just blowing hot. Air, then we must take this threat to National peace seriously.

A stitch in time Saves nine.

My question becomes, what happens to we igbos who don't necessarily subscribe to the biafra movement for varioius reasons? Are we also going to be treated like our "enemies"? Are we also going to be called "saboteurs" as some here are already saying? Its easy to type about war from the comfort of our homes but the question is, Are u ready to take up arms when the time comes? What happens to our little kids in schools? Our nursing mothers? Our aged fathers who can barely walk? Our youths in universities all over the country striving to become someone in future? I'm not against biafra actually think it will be quite intriguing but things should be done the right way...What is the plan? How do we intend to preserve the interests of the minority groups from the south south that secedes with us? What form of government will this our biafra land take? These are just a few of the burning questions we should be asking ourselves...surely a referendum is the way to go but definetely not through violence i mean its not like the political elite in the east have fared any better than their counterparts in the west or north or even south with all its resources, every region is this country is being affected by the bad set of rulers we have been blessed with in this country.....War can and will never solve anything and FYI if a referendum is passed I'm of the opinion that a vast majority of igbos will vote NO not because we don't want to leave Nigeria but because "Igbo enweghi eze" True federalism should be what we should be advocating for at this point in time...UDO

Radio Biafra is an avenue for those with a siege mentality to vent, it must not be banned or sabotaged. -

The call for a ban on Radio Biafra is an irritating distraction for the following reasons.

1. Biafra Radio operators are guaranteed free speech and do not operate on Nigerian airwaves, they are free to agitate for the State of Biafra so long as they do it without violence, call to violence or promote violence against persons, or promote ethnic war against others.

2. Agitation for the State of Biafra is not a crime as individuals/groups can advocate for a right to self determination, what would be wrong is for them to dismember themselves from the territory of the Federal Republic of Nigeria without the consent and agreement of the other federating units. Biafra agitators would have to wage a war against the Federal Republic of Nigeria to do that and would have to be prepared for the consequences (Positive or Negative) of such action.

3. Banning Radio Biafra would just be playing into the agenda of the operators who are making a kill financially from those who buy into whatever agenda they promote, a ban will increase the funding and drive sympathy to the platform.

4. Radio Biafra and other voices should be encouraged to speak openly rather than drive agitators underground.

5. MASSOB (Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra ) is a good example of how lame the power base of Biafra agitators are, like most other pretentious platforms, Radio Biafra will end up like MASSOB and should be left to be.

6. Best way to counter the narrative of those who operate Radio Biafra is to treat ALL Nigerians equally irrespective of region, religion, tribe, sex or political affiliation, if that is done, platforms such as Radio Biafra would remain an avenue for those with a siege mentality to vent and let the steam out and they must be allowed to let it out in a peaceful way.

The challenges and suffering in Nigeria is general. It is not a conspiracy against one group of people. If the Nigerian Federation is deliberately conspiring against Ndgbo, that will be different. But the Truth is that the problem affect everyone.

Looters, killers, wicked politicians, hunger, underdevelopment, injustice, etc are everywhere in every Tribe in Nigeria.

What is important is continually finding ways to solve it. Not some clowns luring one of the major tribe in Nigeria to self destruction. Just because some rife-rat wants to become and Imperial leader and Emperor in the 21st Century.

Start by writing articles against Abubakar Mamman Ngulde and the miscreants who are swearing by their "Allah" that Igbo man will never be president again.

Biafrans don't hav anything against any Men of God, Biafra is a Christian Country, de problem is dat after Biafra Heroes day, Yoruba pastor Kumuyi came to de heart of Biafraland, left his Job of preaching Jeahova Gods kingdom and started preaching about one Nigeria, which kind nonsense bi dat.

They are using violence to intimidate all of Nigeria to embrace a particular religion, and you are turning the other cheek.

I don't know who Nnamdi Kalu is, hardly listened to radio Biafra, but instincts tell me that Igbos that talk favourably about Biafra keep the rest of Nigeria mindful that there must be a limit to anti-Igbo sentiments, religious ideologies and politics in Nigeria.

Those Igbos that march for Biafra wherever they are, they are the most brilliant, most politically educated, and most thoughtful about Igbo future generations; not people like you who see some urban development in your once village domain, then believe that all is well with Nigeria as presently structured and governed.
You have not listened to Radio Biafra and yet you jump on a thread you have NO information about.

What has Boko Haram's violent ways got to do with Biafra's actualization.

Now am beginning to think a lot of igbo are senseless! After going through what they went through in 1967-70, they can still come and spew rubbish here! Or is it that these people writing rubbish were not born during the civil war and so they do not know what war looks like!

Afam4eva:

Some of you don't fail to dissapoint me. The issue here is not whether they are fighting for Biafra but how they're going about it. Some people see the name for an independence from Nigeria why other don't. What I won't support is for one idiot to be inciting people to violence.
Well....
The violent and inciting comments are my major issues too. you too failed to read between the lines of my comment..... Read again to digest it.
Am not in support of Biafra though, but if it happens, which I doubt, whatever.
