How Do We Achieve An Everlasting And Prosperous Nigeria? by Nobody: 2:55pm On Jun 25, 2015
After doing so much idle reading on this section of NL, I kept asking myself if a United Nigeria where we can all co-habit a dream that would never come true? Breaking up this country is not the best course, to continue living the way we are currently doesn't look good either. I've read countless threads on here, but none of us is thinking of a lasting solution, it's either one igbo man here threatening war, an hausa man there yelling how he'll be dealt with again or some Yoruba man over there telling the igbo man who is and who is not for him. Our diverse backgrounds should define what type of nation we want Nigeria to be as well as provide checks and balances. I also think our tribal hate is inherent in all of us, no matter what most of us claim. How do we achieve a system devoid of the tribal tension currently straining this country? Change begins with mindset, is Nigeria really past the point of being salvaged??

Regionalism, introduction of capital punishment to fight corruption, massively investing in the industrial sector so as to create more jobs for our unemployed youths, break d yoke of neo-colonialism, imperialism.... I could go on and on.

The North is afraid of Federalism...
If True federalism is established, then for this country to break in a twinkle of an eye is very easy.

I have thought about this. As a matter of fact, I believe all this calls for biafra is simply the Easterner's way of protesting their own perceived unfair treatment, just like the Niger deltans with their own movements and militancy, the westerners might seem more resolute and objective in their own quest for political equity in the country at the moment, largely due to the outcome of the last elections, but all that is still on the short term, our country is still far from achieving the cohesion needed to keep the country one. It's so sad, something needs to be done, like really fast.

Wherever u are willing to see the big picture. that it is suppose to be we against the world and not we against each other. When all the tiny tribes in this country remember serious minded people are working day and night to dominate mankind not just play i am wiser than the other tribe or on the land of the blind i have one eye.

When it comes to BIAFRA, the Yorubas and Hausa/Fulanis are the WORST hypocrites.

They bitterly hate the Igbos and indeed the southern minorities and would want them to leave Lagos etc and go stay in their own country!

But in contradiction to their true feelings, they don't want Biafra because they want to perpetuate their right to collect the lion share of the oil resources sourced from the same peoples land, using the bogus criteria they foisted on the country called Nigeria.

Without oil in Igboland and Southern minorities part of Nigeria, Yoruba and Hausa/Fulani would have long seceded from Nigeria. FACT!

Sorry my dear

You do not understand the word True Federalism

True Federalism also means a weaken centre but on the platform of States unlike Regionalism preached by the SW which means eradication of States and a return to regional government which is unrealistic because it involves bringing different tribes back together.

cool This will bring back oppression of minorities which we Igbos do not desire. wink

100% resource control to the owners of every resource will remove the need to cheat in order to get the lion share of other peoples resources.

Federal Government must remove it's hands from the resources owned in the states. FG should only receive royalty taxes as the central government.

Give 100% solid minerals to the northern and eastern states that own it
Give 100% oil minerals to the states that own it
Give 100% tax/ port resources to Lagos where it is generated

There should be an onslaught against all oil infrastructure until the Confab agreement of Nigerians is implemented.

You are right.

I can understand you, it is very difficult to believe this country would be a successful country one day.

nigeria can only work well if we have true leaders but we lack that now. Probably this country would collapse at the end.
Re: How Do We Achieve An Everlasting And Prosperous Nigeria? by Nobody: 8:54am On Jun 29, 2015
Truth is, NO nation so formed as Nigeria is, will ever experience everlasting prosperity. It's foundation is a monumental fraud, and it's current mechanism is even more fraudulent than its foundation. Nations aren't supposed to be almagamated!

However, all hope is not lost. If we're sincere with ourselves, we can at least try to salvage it though I seriously doubt that will work. The black man is a very poor manager of himself and his resources.

It's my belief the following can help move the nation forward:

A new Constitution forged by all its constituent parts. The current one is lopsided and full of injustice. And it must be superior to ALL religions in the land. No one religion should contest the superiority of the Constitution.

True federalism. Don't take my serious from the ND to beautify Abuja or anywhere else. If you must do so, lemme determine how!

Give autonomy to the LG.

Remove immunity clause.

Remove all languages from its currency. No hausa, Yoruba and Igbo words on our currency.

Summary: If a people are still discussing the way forward after 54 years, and if they must fight to remain one, then that union is illegitimate.

Thanks for your view dearpreye, beautifully stated, concise too. In addition, I think state of origin and religion should be expunged from all official means of identification and national documents
