Customers expecting the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to extend the deadline for the Bank Verification Number (BVN) exercise may be disappointed as CBN has ruled out the possibility.


Leadership reports that Ibrahim Mu’azu, director,corporate communications, CBN, confirmed that the deadline for registration is tomorrow, Tuesday, June 30, 2015.

He explained further that bank customers were given adequate time and that the bank expected they should have taken advantage of the period scheduled for the exercise to register.

Contrary to the speculation that customers who do not have BVN will be prevented from making transactions, such as payments and withdrawals, Mu’azu said only customers using remote access services: internet banking,Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) and other on-line services would not be able to transact.

He also confirmed that over 14 million bank customers have already registered.

For Nigerians in diaspora to participate in the exercise, CBN has also directed banks to provide online platforms for those who have local accounts to register.

We are talking about the cash to deposit into the account you are talking about freezing it....are the banks planning to freeze empty accounts? Many nigerians are struggling to the afford a 3 square meal a day and here we are with CBN threatening to freeze accounts coz of BVN...really funny!

GUIDELINES TO BE AMONG FTC
1. Make sure you're not engaged, as in as jobless as INTROVERT
2. Make sure you have a working data plan.
3. Make sure you have full battery and a standy power bank.
4. Be alert like a member of a Vigilante group in Borno
5. Make sure your phone is 3g enabled.
6. Always keep your 3g on.

i did mine since December, I think the same week they started it. But its no big deal since it does not affect deposits and withdrawal inside bank.

Whether they extend it or not thats there business just hope its gonna worth all the stress one went through plus cash spent on t-fare from one bank to the other

Went to bank today to link My BvN to my UBA account... I was asked to come back tomorrow.. In Akwanga Local Gov area of Nasarawa were I reside, No UBA.. Had to go to laffia (state capital). I got dat come bk tommrw as reply.. I requested to close my account.. They said system is not working... Baba pls I dnt want change in My Bank account pls leave transformation to be.
