So PS will abandon their official duties different from that of ministers; or they will combine the two?
Combine the two. There are lots of redundant staffs in all ministries, how about we make them earn their pay without increasing the wage bill?

Speaking of early days signs, was there this level of gnashing of teeth from both sides of the divide during the "clueless" one's era?

Patience is a virtue, if u can survive 6 years of cluelessness u definately can survive 2 months of planning. I know something great will come out of this.
That's my problem with u folks; in a country as complex as Nigeria, the more delay, the damage. When Buhari is through with his planning, he will start from fixing the problems his inaction has caused the country.

My last take, if he thinks that way, let him name them as ministers. QED!

The expectations are not same. The stakes and expectations are higher now based on what we have passed through at GEJ's hands. Simple.

My patience is wearing very thin!

Common, we're talking about COS, SGF, Advisers and a few ministers whose ministries will not be merged such as Finance, Works, etc.
I refuse to criticise the President based on his non-selection of cabinet. I'd rather criticise him based on the performance of same after it must have been constituted.

Igbo chanting betrayal and blackmailing him for many things, the militants are now angry for cutting them allowances and pipelines monitoring jobs, the party crisis and many other things we don't know of. My people say if day wan break, night go come first. he will do just great. Never regret voting for change.

Guy fear God na!!! grin cheesy

You just wake up one morning, scratch ya balls finish just use the hand type this thing? Na wa oh.. Igbos were actually not calling out Buhari as a betrayal, they were referring to the Yoruba people (although not right even though Yorubas also label Igbos with other bad names too).

I bet you don't recall that it's not Igbo people been running to the media of late to say things like "NASS" election is northern conspiracy against the _________________ people?

Fill in the blank space, maybe when you're done with researching and getting the right answer, then you may wanna change your previous post.. undecided

1) What is the job of a Chief of Staff and SGF?
2) Are you worried that he doesn't have advisers or you don't know the name of his advisers?
3) What is it that a minister can do that a permanent secretary or director in the ministry can't do?

Thank you very much. You are a smart man.

What did Pius Anyim contribute positively to this nation as SGF? Can anyone remember the chief of staff to GEJ?

Typical Nigerian attitude . Impatience. They would have preferred that he name his cabinet and the looting continues .

Buhari was elected as president and not magician.

I share your disappointment as to the delay in naming his cabinet members. However, I'm not so surprised. In 1983/1984, he named his cabinet after about 6 months and yet he made an impact in his 20 months administration. Change will occur but he should step on the gas pedal. We are losing patience

Buhari made an impact? Really? You mean he denied the civilian populace many of its liberties, jailed and killed several citizens with his draconian decrees all at the same time doing severe damage to the nation's economy with his questionable policies?

The campaigns are over, stop trying to re paint Buhari's dictatorship of '84 as a wonderful and prosperous time.

@Topic

I never had any confidence in Buhari's ability to lead this nation to greatness and while I tried to hold onto the hope that things might get better the inaction of the past month has only served to invigorate my fears: Nigeria is under the rule of yet another ineffective and bad government.

U don't keep planning wen d enemy is @ Ur doorstep.
Not especially wen, from the campaigns, Nigerians had gotten d impression that the problems to a large extent had been identified and the expectation was that a team (preliminary/temporary) should have been in place to address them.
Like the Bloomberg article said, the non appointment of a finance minister@a time like this is a serious question mark (indictment) on Buharis capabilities.
Day in , day out all we get is party crises.
It's really disappointing.

Frustrating is gradually becoming an understatement in this case, its becoming really worrying and annoying (to me at least). He had 2 month after winning the election to plan and get to know people he may likely work with, so why the delay in naming his own Chief of Staff and SGF? El-Rufai didn't wait for handover note before making plan on how to govern his state, in fact he had his programs ready before contesting the governorship election. Well time will tell whether we made the right choice or not, that said i would still choose a Mohammadu Buhari over a Goodluck Jonathan..

That's because most Nigerians have the wrong perception of how things work in a normal society. We should working towards having strong institutions, that's the change I expect.
I don't care if he names a minister or not but i care that there's a power ministry but we don't have power, the workers should justify their pay. At least they get paid whether they get paid or not.

There is no evidence to show it does, so I won't speculate, and I certainly wouldn't give my adversaries the ammo to give me a head shot.

The success or failure of one's admin depends largely on the people they surround themselves with. If you have good hands to work with, chances are you would succeed. We have heard several WailingWailers claim here that Jonathan was a "good man" surrounded by bad people- we don't need all that excuses this time, the buck stops at the president's table.

Let him take his time so when the cabinet is finally constituted, he would have no reason to absolve himself of any blames, especially since he's made us understand he's gonna chose the members of his cabinet himself, with very limited external influence.

I know how hard it is to summon such patience, I do- but I'm of the school of thought "soffly soffly cachee monkeey". cheesy

What patience and planning is required in naming COS, SGF and some important advisers? These are people he should have known before he was sworn in.
Exactly what I told a colleague of mine this morning but he wouldn't listen. As far as he's concerned anything that happens during this Buhari's tenure is correct. It's well.

Patience is a virtue. I can never be in support of stampeeding president Buhari. Relax. Everything is under control. He might still name these key appointments and u will still lament how slow his cabinet is. #typicalnigerianmentality. Governance is nt ideal situation. But a reality. U voted and supported d general in d last election. If ur patience wears thin this easily..... Life is a choice tho.

Jeez its barely a month. Nobody shud stampede d president. If you are opportuned to be in such position, u will understand.

Or let's analyse things abstractly. A young and inexperienced boy, while having sex, might not know how to endure. Then all of a sudden.... He explodes. Leaving much to be desired.

But an old and experienced man will take his time. Until d counterpart gets there first. Eventually, he will still get there. Everybody will be happy. Nobody will congratulate you for getting there first. Even you will feel ashamed of urself for nt getting d others satisfied. Hope u get.
This case is not different. Its not a matter of how fast or how far. But how well.

Are you inadvertently saying that Nigerians would have tolerated the same issue you're beguiled about had expectations not been high?

Secondly, that phrase "what we have passed through at GEJ's hands" is a largely subjective one, or don't you think?

The difference between those who hold that assertion and those who don't is a mere 3+ million ("mere" when looked at in comparison to the population that actually voted ).

GEJ had his flaws and shortcomings, no doubt.
But I still think of him as the best thing that's happened to our democracy and by extension, our country.
