Okeikpu:Who you be? Did you watch Yekini play? How did you arrive at the conclusion he was an opportunist and did not know how to stay on-side? |
| Re: Nigeria’s Top Five Rated Players Of All Time by stan241(m): 4:41pm On Jul 04, 2015 |
Sagamite:What you don't understand is that some folks only saw highlights of yekini but never got to fully watch him play, i never understood how good his link up play was till i saw Drogba years later...yekini was pure class |
| Re: Nigeria’s Top Five Rated Players Of All Time by Okeikpu(m): 4:46pm On Jul 04, 2015 |
Sagamite:I watch him live during d time he ws playing for Olympiakos. We also attend clubs 2gether..... |

stan241:And that is where you are on point! Yekini I think had the highest goals for any African national team (bar Hossam Assam) until Drogba came into the frame. He was our most prolific striker who was very intelligent in front of goal and out of the box. He had the muscle, pace, positioning, speed, dribbling [at pace], shot accuracy and aerial power. The worst thing is that looking at him, you will never refer these attributes to him. Extremely intelligent player that only Okocha can claim to be Nigeria's best player before him. No other Nigerian striker has matched up to that since. He was such a prolific goal scorer that when you hear he is on the team sheet, you will be like "at least I know we will score, let the opposition just not score more". Opportunist my arsse! |

Tolexander:for real?? please you can't compare both... efosa could not even survive the premiership with wigan. Not even a single goal in the EPL. Obi and kanu are the most decorated Nigerian footballers. |
| Re: Nigeria’s Top Five Rated Players Of All Time by bonna4u(m): 5:12pm On Jul 04, 2015 |
The list became a joke the moment mikel obi's name was included. The likes of Chairman Christian Chukwu, late Muda Lawal, Mathematical Segun Odegbami and others should replace Mikel. Last bullet: Steven Keshi wasn't 17 years old in 1989. |

Sagamite:Take it or hang on..... Yekini isn't a player....he ws a footballer by chance... Just dat sometimes he got lucky wt goals...... Rashidi is just like baba 1chance.... now u knw what am talking abt |

Funny how we Nigerians forget stuff easily. .. dunno how a bad player would last in chelsea for 9years. |

emperorchedda:Nigeria has won the nations cup twice and not really 'very' significant and restricted to only a race. Nigeria hadn't won the Olympic football gold medal before 1996. Only Cameroun has done it as an African nation. Olympic says it all. |

Okeikpu:He got lucky with goals? Next time, if you know nothing about football, it is better not to give your opinion. |

arsetalks:Bros I am nt comparing Mikel with Kanu. I was only listing Mikel's achievements that warrants him being listed among the top Five. And talking abt football before 2005, i am so very very sure u were nt born when i started watching football. |

Icon4s:That's possible. Started 93 but doesn't matter when you start anyway. But definitely Mikel has no business on that list |

Sorry its World Youth Championship. Netherland 2005... that is, under 20 World cup not u-17[quote author=mans114 post=35470094]Nigeria’s top five rated players of all time By Mansur Abubakar 4 John Obi Mikel- came to limelight during the 2005 U17 World Cup in Holland where he almost eclipsed arguably the greatest player of all time, Lionel Messi to the coveted Golden Ball due to his mesmerizing display at the tournament which made many rate him among the three most talented footballers in the world at the time. Apart from being part of the 2013 AFCON winning side in Johannesburg, Mikel’s Eagles career can best be described as average but Chelsea FC of England is where the midfielder has really made his name, being part of the team that has won three EPL titles, four FA Cups, three League cups, UEFA Champions League and the Europa League. All that meant this list would have been incomplete without including the former Lyn Oslo player who due to his talents was at the centre of a transfer tussle between Manchester United and Chelsea in 2006. Today he is no longer a first team player in the ‘Blues’ team but will go down as one of Nigeria’s biggest exports in football.quote] |

arsetalks:Mikels medals store is rich enough to put him up there. NB: By 1993 i had already seen 2senior World Cups, 4 AFCONS, 5 U17 WC, 5 U20/21 WC & 2 Olympic football games. So i should b d one telling u that football didnt start in 1993. |
