Since the start of Ramadan on June 17th the Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima, has thrown a lavish breakfast party everyday for elite individuals in Maiduguri according to sources.

This breakfast party is held everyday despite the desperate financial state in Borno, which has been exacerbated by routine terrorist attacks by Boko Haram.

The Borno State House of Assembly recently cut down the number of aides Governor Shettima has from 40 to 20 in an effort to control outrageous expenses from the State government.

Recently Governors from other northern States, including Governor El-Rufai of Kaduna State and Governor Ganduje of Kano State, have taken measures to control spending by their State governments which include eliminating the State-sponsored Ramadan breakfast.

10,000,000*30days = 300,000,000

This is too much in name of fasting.

Am so angry with all our so called leaders. If you can spend 300million on feeding for people fasting, how much will this governor spend on Hajj.

You can spend 1/4 of this amount on fasting and channel the rest to educating the youth so as to stay away from being a member of BH.

The governor can provide only Tea and Fruits to break fast, since its a tradition to spend government money during fasting period in the North.

The money is too much.

Just look at his silly bloated face. His state is bombarded by bokoharam on a daily basis, school kids are learning on the floor without any guarantee they will go back home alive and all this animal does is to spend millions on some 4cking ramadan. I still don't understand why state of emergency has not been declared in Borno angry

smh...sometimes I wonder how these guys became governors in the first place. It is as though our system is designed to make sure capable minds never make it to governance. Many of our rulers have absolutely no business in governance and those who should be there are frustrated out of the system. It is often said that when one does his/her best but the gods refuse their success, may those who pass blame be kind to them. May we do our best to find serious minded leaders and may the gods support our course...we have suffered enough!!!
