powdered milk is different from regular milk. powdered milk is more digestible for lactose intolerant folks. Europeans drink the regular one. Nomadic peoples also change the fat/lactose content of their milk by turning it into other products like cheese or yoghurt. However, I don't know if they are lactose tolerant like Europeans. |

naijaguy77:It's not that you can't digest milk, it's that you can't digest lactose i.e. the type of sugar found only in milk. You can still digest the fat and proteins and all the other milk components. The problem this causes is that all the undigested milk sugar gets into your large bowl where it gets broken down by bacteria producing huge amounts of gas. It also makes it harder for your bowels to absorb water causing diarrhoea. A lot of people will notice that the get serious funky smelling gas and the shîts a few hours after drinking a large amount of milk. If this happens to you, it means you are lactose intolerant. |
