| Is Our President A Male Chauvinist? by Pidggin(op): 1:04pm On Jul 16, 2015 |
The last dispensation witnessed the appointment of women into key positions like ministry of finance, defence, and petroleum, in fulfilment of the promise made by the PDP and the former president Good luck Ebere Jonathan. However, with the coming of the new government of President Buhari we women folk are worried at our lack of inclusion in appointments made so far. We are worried at this trend, as we want to be included in appointments into key positions. We would like to know our president's intension for us. Will we be getting new female leaders like late Prof. Dora Akunyuli who will eventually be role models for us, or would you rather we dust our certificates and keep them under our pillows? |

How many women did Jonathan appoint into these positions for which Buhari has made appointments. How many military service chiefs were women in Jonathan's administration? How many of Jonathan's spokesmen were women? People always counting their eggs before they are hatched. And even calling Buhari a male chauvinist? I wonder if the female INEC chairperson counts for nothing. |

When I opened this thread a few months ago, I saw everything coming. Now the ministerial list is out, and all PMB could manage was only three women in his cabinet?! Also one cannot help but notice the number of women in key positions he has relieved of their jobs since May 29. Another issue is the lack of inclusion of youths in his cabinet. Many of our present leaders were priviledged to become leaders in their youth, yet they refuse to replicate the good deeds of our colonial masters who saw absolutely nothing wrong in handing over the country to the likes of Tafawa Balewa, Nnamdi Azikiwe, Awolowo who were all youths in the sixties. |

Pidggin:Talks like this are the exact reason people like you shouldn't be taken seriously. As a member of society, You should be talking of merit and not quota when appointments are to be made. You needing role models is A puerile reason for Buhari to appoint more women to cabinet. |

Please this is 'change' and we only appoint 'competent' people -irrespective of religion, ethnic or gender. All the 'competent' people may be from one region or my own family (arent we all competent in my family?). It doesnt matter. We are all to keep quiet and celebrate 'change'. Even if you voted for APC, if you make any critical comment, you are a 'wailing wailer'. We have angels in government and politics now. They cannot make mistake. Do you want appointment or you want be considered as a 'progressive', quickly decamp and join us. My former State Governor must be regretting now for not joining change. Even an ex-PDP Senator who just decamped, is reported to be on the 2nd batch of ministerial list -lets see if its true. |

Timbuktou:Yes, my needing role models is a valid reason for him to consider appointing more females into his cabinet. There are so many capable women who will perform well if given the chance, but they are not even being considered by PMB. We also need to see more appointment of youths, but the lack of inclusion of youths in PMB's appointments is not the best. |

Pidggin:So, the competent guys already on the job should be removed so that women can feel good about themselves? Government isn't massaging fragile egos and people with low self esteem. Pray tell, which of the cure appointees would you recommend be replaced and whom would you replace them with? |
| Re: Is Our President A Male Chauvinist? by Nobody: 11:55am On Oct 13, 2015 |
Pidggin:Of course, they will hear and listen, fortunately your rant will be tossed aside like an empty water sachet |

Timbuktou:Competent guys?@bolded, Competent guys?! Okay, yes some, why not? If you are sincere to yourself, I know you can pick the men who be replaced even without a second thought. |
| Re: Is Our President A Male Chauvinist? by Pidggin(op): 12:37pm On Oct 13, 2015 |
oloyede252:I don't hate him, rather I only point out his flaws, and it is increasing daily. |
| Re: Is Our President A Male Chauvinist? by Nobody: 12:47pm On Oct 13, 2015 |
Pidggin:Even if guys would be replaced they can be replaced with other guys. There's no reason to have to replace them with women. If Buhari had had a cabinet with 90% women, would you be bellyaching right now? |
