Experienced Ppl,are These Pregnancy/delivery Myths True/false? by Nobody:
Ok so I have heard a lot of myths which I will like to share in the quest of knowing which is true/false.
Is it true that;
1) after delivery, one has to keep her legs closed else air will fill up her womb?
2) without hot compress on abdomen, clots of blood may stay in d womb n block itself in there?
3)wearing girdle will result in tummy becoming permanently flabby?
4) baby needs some hot water massages
5)after delivery, don't take anything cold, even water for the next couple of weeks.

All these tales got my head spinning....if u say they are true/false , pls back up with facts.

Feel free to add yours so we all learn smiley

1)Keep your legs closed like walk with a scissors kind of gait?
2)How much pressing will actually dissolve whatever clot is in the womb?Do people think of the thickness of the walls of the abdomen and how much penetration that heat actually has?Just a little beneath the skin!
3)Wearing a girdle does not help your stomach muscles get back their tone on time.
4)Babies only need warm baths.

1. False! There's blood in there already, its not a vacuum that sucks air in!

2. True-ish! The abdomen is to be properly compressed after delivery to prevent life-threatening bleeding(post partum haemorrhage)!

3. False! In fact it is NOT WEARING GIRDLE that brings about the flabby afterbirth tummy we African men love so much! tongue Hot compresses up to a week after delivery also helps return the tummy back to its original (but not necessarily flat grin) shape!

4. True! To prevent hypothermia! Not boiling hot o! Use common sense!
Caveat. No 4 does not apply to Ijaw babies! grin

5. False! Wetin concern your womb with cold water. Drink water jo, you want to die of dehydration?

Good idea. Bad application.
Hot water bottle would have been safer! But if she was seeing her period then it's already far too late.

No 5. My doctor gave me a very cold water after I delivered my baby.
