The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, on Friday said the Federal Government was committed to stamping out the activities of insurgents in the country.

Osinbajo said this in Gombe when he paid a condolence visit to families that lost their loved one to the Gombe central market twin blasts on Thursday.

Osinbajo, “The incident is unfortunate; we are convinced we are going to stamp out insurgency in the country,” he said.

Osinbajo said he was directed by President Mohammadu Buhari, to commiserate with the people of Gombe over the incident.

“This morning when we paid the President Sallah homage, he asked me to come to Gombe to commiserate with the people, the Emir and governor of Gombe over the terrible incident that happened.

“He said I should let them know that we are with them; we heard about the death of men, women and children and we feel your pains.

“People should be rejoicing in celebration of Sallah but instead they are mourning; it is unfortunate,” he said. Osinbajo said it was the duty of the government to protect the lives and properties of the citizenry.

“I salute the braveness of Gombe people. In spite of the unfortunate incident they are still in the market

“This is because they know, it is only God that can protect them, men can only do their best,” he said.

Governor Dankwambo, in his speech, thanked the Osinbajo for the visit, adding that the people of Gombe State were highly honoured with the gesture.

The Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Abubakar Shehu, also thanked the vice president for the visit.

He said the visit did not come to him as surprise considering the love Buhari and Osinbajo had for Gombe people and the entire north east.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that, the vice president visited the Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe, to see the victims of the blast.

He also visited the scene of the blast and some bereaved families.

It would be recalled that a twin blasts at Gombe central market on Thursday claimed over 50 lives and left many people wounded.

when it was few weeks to handing over, Boko pledged allegiance to ISIS to become stronger...and Since Buhari took over, Boko boys stopped kidnapping/abducting, they now resort to suicide bombing every now and then(dancing to the tune of their paymasters); @ the news of every bomblast, the PDP jubilates. Now Dasuki is on fire, the PDP are trembling. What for if I may ask? Is it that they fear the whole world wld soon know their secrets? Dasuki shldnt belong to any political party so I see no reason why they are trying to claim him.

Its just a matter of months. Boko will soon be history and their sponsors will be known to all. (By His grace)

but do u remember when the bombing was in GEJ 's time, APC was rejoicing and say Jonathan was incompetent, that he was the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces, blablabla. I know u remember all that. But now PMB is there, he has do it pls.

Do u remember the statement PMB made? "if insurgency last for more that 48hrs, the govt knows about it"

I guess u know what dat means and translates to.

yea I remember. But it wasn't PMB that said the emboldened. It was Gen. Sani Abacha that said that originally. And it only applies to when the insurgency was still fresh. And believe me, if we had taken the right steps when insurgency was very young, boko haram would be history by now. Do you know how much goes to defence every year during GeJ's regime? Yet our soldiers still complain abou weapons. What was all those trillions used for? Why was jonathan winning the war against the insurgents only in the added "6weeks"? Was it because Nigerians were not going to vote for him? This whole Boko thing is POLITICAL, my broda. This I know for sure

i guess by using the GOD of adeboye, we are watching. i guess he thinks this by cabashing security would come all clown of APC.

Boko Haram must be stamped out by the grace of God.
Osibanjo must first look inwards because as it is now, this government really looks clueless concerning this security issue. 80% of those who voted for APC at the last elections believed the fight against the insurgents would be more intense by this time than the last six weeks of the PDP. But that's not the case now. Instead, they are chasing after the record books of civil servants and laying siege on individuals. Something tells me that this APC government is not as clean as they portray.

How, is it by paying visits to the victims in hospitals.
