Pride is relative therefore any answer to your question will be subjective. For starters I am both Nigerian AND American (dual citizenship) but I CHOSE to live in Nigeria, and while Nigeria may not be perfect (far from it), I'll pick it over any other African country, including SA.

That is their greatest regret.

The cunning Igbo wanted to make the Midwest and Lagos the theatre of the war, hence their early plans at invasion.

They wanted to keep their land free from war while fighting the war with the Northerners over other people's territory.

They may cry about the war for a hundred years, I will not be fooled. They got what they planned for others, for that I have no sympathies to offer, just condolences which I give most generously.

An instance is when IPOB which I am not a member or an affiliate or supporter declares independence and the nigerian army invades the east and rather than target IPOB soldiers they target innocent women and children, then and only then will target of civilians in the west and north with out fail commence through every means possible like blowing up civilian targets etc. While I do not subscribe to war I will not fold my hands and allow imbeciles bomb my family in the name of fighting IPOB.

If Ojukwu had retaliated by using mainly guerilla tactics on civilian targets during the war the war would have been shortened but he fought a professional war fighting only the army and people who weren't involved in the war are suffering the effects till date .
