BabyDaddy20:Good one there @BabyDaddy20, The Army cannot be fully equiped at once, but saying GEJ did nothing is false and those spreading this LIES and PROPAGANDA are not doing the present government any favour or good. Let PMB follow -up where GEJ stopped wheither to continue from there is what we wait to see now or stil continue in "I WILL, I WILL" |

Nigeria has no enemy countries surrounding it. Nigeria is acquiring these arms to kill Nigerians. This is why foreign democratic countries are hesitant to sell arms to Nigeria. A tiny minority that benefits from Nigeria acquires arms and ammunition only to confront any internal or secessionist threat against One Nigeria; instead of applying political measures to address internal problems of Nigeria. |

All this artilleries are good but they aren't new to my view cox everyone keep posting the same type of machines of our armed forces. Pls we need modernized weapons as African SuperPower not all this outdated machines used during the second world war. #myopinion# |

Believe me, lack of information is doing more than 60% Nigerians lot of harm. When u compare the military before gej and after gej u will know that there was conscious effort to make the military equipped. And its not that easy for a country like Nigeria to go around the US to purchase arms N.B (the US major export is arms before oil). That's y there was the issue of black market. I will implore the apc supporters to try and credit gejs govt for the little he did while criticizing the wrong he did cos without knowing u will see the same mistakes been made in this govt too. We just want Nigeria to move forward. If you find anybody guilty of corruption let the person be punished. No need for the talking everytime. |

bankoleben:Omo ti o ba ni iya oun ko ni sun.............. When double tongue is the order of the day, facts need to be set right 1. Zero air force to 2. Is this all Nigeria can afford to 3. GEJ did not buy anything to 4. small country can easily acquire this.... |

This OP is getting everything wrong, with all this hardwares, why did we lose more than 13,000lives? GEJ only woke up 6weeks to elections and that's when Nigeria acquired all this. Remember boko-are-rams menace started in 2009,even the documentary you presented was in 2015. If them born Vice News well, them for go Bornu State 2012 or 2013. Buhari and APC were lamenting about GEJ's inability to tackle boko-are-rams until elections, that doesn't make sense. No doubt the Military hardwares were bought, but why 6 weeks to elections?! ![]() |

OP, stop trying to defend the last administration . All the administrations before the last have their own share of the blame. The insurgency started heating up in 2012 after the election of GEJ. All through this time, GEJ treated teh boko haram crises like vengeance against his administration by the northern elites. He ignored the army all the while, ignoring to deal with the situation. Throughout this period, the budget spending on defence was over 7 billion dollars in the total 4 seven years excluding security votes dashed out to most nothern PDP governors in the name of fighting boko haram. This amount is 20 times more than that of uganda and chad, ethiopia . While the latter(most of their fighter jets were bought from russia) was acquiring generation fighter jets we were running after second hand value alpha jets. It took the kidnap of the chibok girls and the approaching general election for the administration to wake up to its responsibility. Before then tens of thousands of lives had been lost to GEJs indecisiveness. |

Nadheer15:Here we go again. DID GEJ buy the hardwares is the question now Going by your statement, then PMB and his entourage to Honeymoon in USA should have come back with USA sophisticated weapons |

engineerboat:The problem was that the fight against Boko Haram dragged on for far too long. If Boko Haram was quashed early enough, no one would care to know if the military is ill-equipped or not. |

LordMecuzy:But, what was NAF like, before Jonathan took over? -Under Jonathan, Nigeria placed orders for 9 MI-35M and 12 MI-171SH Helicopters. -Under Jonathan, Nigeria received 2 up-graded MI-35 Helicopters from Ukraine. -Under Jonathan, Nigeria Placed orders for 12 MI-35 Helicopters from Belarus. - Under Jonathan Nigeria has received over 14 Light utility Helicopters. - Under Jonathan Nigeria took delivery of 10 CH-3A drones from China. We are one of the very few countries to use armed Drones anywhere in the world. - Under Jonathan Nigeria got 5 indigenous drones - under Jonathan Nigeria got multiple tactical drones. Under Jonathan, Nigeria has received or placed orders 59 Helicopters. Again, what was the state of the Air Force before Jonathan? |

The truth shall remain forever while lie will surely fade away and guess what! Lies has wicked consequences. GEJ is the Man. If other past Leaders. Has done half of what he was able to achieve in a short while, Nigeria would have been greater by now. But hate it or leave it, he has planted the seed of greatness for Us & Posterity shall judge him right for that. I'm 100% Sure |

I find this thread very distasteful and Somewhat annoying... I have only met a handful of people as patriotic as I am let alone more patriotic that I am. Patriotism however should NEVER blind us to the flaws of our nation lest we fail bitterly. The acquisition of this birds may be celebrated in some quarters, its all good celebrate but not too long nor loud. Because the truth is we as a nation deserve more... A nation as rich in terms of resources and enemies, and important as Nigeria shouldn't have such a low grade airforce. Armed Super Pumas, Alpha jets, F7s... Good God, they may as well surrender our country in advance to a foreign power. In the words of a wise man... Oga Beegs. "The time of peace is the best time to prepare for war". And Nigeria is far from ready for a conventional war. Our biggest flaw is measuring our capabilities with the likes of Cameroon, Ghana, Togo, Mali and Co. I respect these countries but we are simply not in the same security class. Nigeria is a leading African Power House, we should be compared with power houses from other continents. Our politicians have corrupted and crippled our military with the aid of their cronies. If we don't realize that WE HAVE FALLEN, we wouldn't see the reason to rise... After all there is no wisdom in fixing what isn't broken. All said acquisitions should be probbed... Truth is we were reaped off. #Sad reality. Good Bless Nigeria. |

ayd91:Agreed, we are not there yet, but we need to start somewhere and that is the truth. Everything about Military hardware involve 1. Training 2. Government policy and finance 3. International relation and Policy 4. Purpose of buying and exigency all this put together matters and must go hand in hand. Thanks |
| Re: Re: Equipping Of Nigeria Army And Airforce by ayd91(m): 6:00pm On Aug 07, 2015 |
engineerboat:Your posts hints to the fact that your somehow affiliated to Beegeagle's Blog... If that's true then I do say you haven't lived up to the set standards. You're right that we do not have a zero airforce... But the question is "are we were we should be?" obviously not this is a far cry from were we should be. The equipment the airforce operates gives Nigeria a bad. Our boys are trying their best... But we need them well armed. I wonder what you'd say tomorrow if Chad decided to declare war against Nigeria... The airforce is capable of defending our sovereignty? No sir. Our air security must be stepped up. Anything less is treason. |
