Yankari Game Reserve is located about 225km east of the Nigerian city of Jos and it covers an area of 2,244 sq km. Yankari Game Reserve has been described by the Lonely Planet Guide as holding “about the only remnant of wildlife left in Nigeria. With about 550 elephants, this park has the largest elephant population in West Africa. However, sighting the animals is not so easy, as the vegetation in the area is quite dense. The best time to view the animals is late February to late April.

I do not think they are current - at least not all of them. I remember seeing the picture of that white Eagle in a Shell Nigeria booklet specially prepared for their Silver Jubilee in the 80s. Take nothing away from the reserve anyway, I think its a great place to be.

cool pic as a trained wildlifer I beg to differ yankari is highly rich in Flora and fauna But there is a bigger park in Nigeria That's more diverse than yankari It's larger too Gashaka Gumpti national park Serti Taraba state 6402 sq. kilometers the only one of It's kind don't think they can match yankari. for Elephants But they have the largest primate concentration in the country as Well as a species of chimpanzee Pantroglodyte vellorosus only found there in the whole world and that makes it unique also features the highest point in Nigeria the Chappal wadi mountains It's got transitory eco systems enabling it to have Flora and fauna found in rainforests ,montane and savanna ecosystems will still wanna visit yankari though extremely nice pictures..

Yes bro. Heard and read much about Gashaka-Gumti National Park, and was making plans to visit when Boko Haram madness worsened. I don't know how safe that area is right now, that's why I ditched the idea of visiting there.
