I don't like this.
Reason? Is the president the most intelligent, knowledgeable, capable and non corrupt technocrat from 170 million Nigerians to head this sophisticated ministry. He doesn't trust anyone else and he wants everyone to trust him. Coordinating the activities of all the ministries ( including Petroleum ) and other Executive functions also require Mr President's careful attention. Can he cope?
Division of labour is a sine qua non in a DEMOCRACY.

On what basis is this a good news?
Is Buhari a 2015 technocrat in oil and gas?
Is it the lack of trusted individuals or the lack of qualified technocrats that is driving this move?
What exactly does he intend to achieve in 18months, if he is good for 18months then he can do for four years.

The agricultural, manufacturing and power sectors need urgent attention. Buhari should start seeing beyond oil.

Diezani is a technocrat, maybe we should bring her back.

This is mind-boggling. In addition to all executive/presidential functions he adds this portfolio to himself and to what end? It would make more sense to appoint a seasoned professional then demand reports within certain time frames. Also mandate auditors to go over the dealings of the ministry unannounced, even plant persons committed to the good of Nigeria to be his eyes and ears.

Deciding to head it himself is the most backward thing to do and it must be clear that the Ministry will not be run on 'integrity' alone! There is need for expertise and more up-to-date knowledge. He must respect his age and health too otherwise he'll find himself letting the same people he ought to flush out, run the system.

Well like d PDP said, it is too early to speculate so we watch n wait till September.

OBJ toured for 3years and he got debt forgiveness and investments at the end of the day.

We are already seeing the dividend of PMBs tour -- US is ready to lift embargo on arms sales to us, neighbouring countries are more than ready to support in the war against terror.

His tours have not been in vain. If more tours will bring more benefits to Nigeria, he should keep touring.

I voted for this man. Like I actually came back to Nigeria to vote ebele out and buhari in. I have such high hopes for his tenure as president. Nigeria has flopped for years which is why we smartly sacked GEJ, the head scratcher. I don't care if Buhari will be minister of everything to move this country forward, let him! It's a democracy but few can be trusted, so let him oversee it and curb the hungry embezzlers.
Come on, this man has balls. He is not scared of anyone. He does what he feels has to be done. That is leadership. Unlike ex-leaders that lived to please sycophants. With great power comes great responsibility. I really look forward to what will become of Nigeria during his regime.
