very funny write up.i did my internship in national hospital abuja some years back, and i will say this problem can occur due to many reasons.
1.An house officer probably wrote this investigation for her(the rookie didnt know the test was unavailable in the hospital)
2.The cash point guy was stupid enough not to have checked the available tests(an updated list)
3.If you know how national hospital and their politics work enh,in fact ,you will know that patience is the key, everything has to go through paper work, ordinary refund, you must write letter, even medical report, that one might be 2 months.

SOLUTION;Be patient madam, and pray Buhari or the CMD restructures the system soon.
N.B;i doubt if anyone scammed you of 50k(a night of admission in the private wing was 40k,about 3 years ago).
A house officer recommending a procedure of that sort without the knowledge of his superiors?
plus they went ahead to book the procedure. I doubt that.
Re: Housewife Accuses National Hospital Of Scam by malikisah: 11:40am On Aug 10, 2015
This is just one of their many sins. They charge 120k for scan which which cost 65k outside of the hospital with better equipment. Besides the posing and of course the begging, results are only released after over one week of posing.

pls next time read before coming online to display your ignorance.

oxygen and nebulised salbutamol are the first step in the management of severe acute asthma.
hydrocortisone is the second step.
aminophylline comes later.
the fact that u do nonsense in ur private facility doesn't make it standard.
hahaha!!! Tell that to who thinks asthma is a mere cough.
U must be a quack Doctor if u claim to be one.

Ur administration is wrong in the first place, and again I'm not concerned abt the drug administration cos I'm not any medical prac.
My point is that our so-called confirmed doctors shd be professionals in their profession. What yeye level of hygiene will make u share oxygen mask without well cleansing? What kind of educated doctor will make a patient in emergency delay because the thief wants money b4 service ? What manner of wicked doctor will tell a sick patient(in the emegency ward) to go look for his file aand get back to be attended to?nna..chill!

You are right madam...dat so called National Hospital is messd up, d other time they were owing newly employed nurses over 4 months salary, the hospital is jst answering name and if at it was ever delivering smtime ago-it now live on past glory.....my alma-mata (UNTH, Enugu) is delivering much more dan dem...Open heart surgery carried out here n patients recover....to tok of ordinary Uteroscope! Corruption eatin evry corner of dis country...Oluwa deliver us.
UNTH where internship is sold for 200k-220k (plus cutting of salaries after payment). Who knows what Amah has tagged on a slot for residency.
Patient's relatives had to protest to get water for bathing and washing. Abi the one that ward's didn't have electricity for months or CT machine has been down for about 3-4 yrs. Ghost workers and back dated appointment letters for those who could afford the jobs without interview.
In fact everything in UNTH has a price.
All these and more with an increase in the cost of every procedure or process with declining services rendered.
Tell me another story.

You are part of the problem. You've gone as far as defending the indefensible. The issue here is not the salary structure or world class equipment. The patient was made to pay for an operation they don't have the equipment. Worse, she is yet to get her refund. What do you call that? In a saner country, she will sue easily.
I am not denying d existence of a problem. Just dat I am realistic enough not to join u guys in overflogging d issue.

Communication gap made d hospital charge her for a procedure which they can't perform as at dat moment. If u know d public sector, dis things happen. Live with it.

I won't conclude dat dia was a fraudulent intention in charging her.
Also, d delay in refunding her money was only bureaucratic and u know it. So why make the unnecessary noise? Why make a mountain out of a mole hill?

Imagine 50k in 100 places...it's you who needs to be more objective.. plus who says that is the only area fraud is being practiced.. all these teaching hospitals need to be audited.. so many ghost workers.. using personnel money for personal gain, not paying approved allowances for doctors, this is why resident doctors are on strike.. pls follow @luthard100 and @uch_ard then u will know it's a cabal...
U obviously know nothing about d public sector. This is evident from ur post. Ever heard of TSA? Ever heard of budget monitoring? Do u really believe it is possible to divert personell money for private use in a federal govt establishment?
And come to think of it. It is d so called doctors dat make all d financial decisions in a hospital. They only hand such decisions down to the admin staff to carry out.

Your submission would have been incredible if this was a one time mistake. I'm sure you read the part she said the technician told her that a woman who paid for the unavailable service since two years is yet to get her refund.

I'm believe if there is an investigation, many other people who have paid for the service without getting a refund may be discovered.

Call it whatever you like, but it can't be referred to as an insignificant issue

"Do u really believe it is possible to divert personell money for private use in a federal govt establishment? "

Guy, are you serious about this your statement or it's just sarcasm?

It's unbelievable that anyone living in Nigeria can say this of a federal government establishment!!!

There is no need of even trying to disprove your assertion.

it may have been possible way back but definitely not today.
I don't expect u to understand except u work in d finance and control department of any FEDERAL govt establishment in Nigeria.

Note the word in capital letters.

Pls don't get me wrong....All sorts of grafts and back handed dealings and corruption are still rampant in federal civil service. But when it comes to personell cost......the controls are iron clad. Take it or leave it.

You are the one who knows nothing abt the public sector.. the corruption is so much that it is from the top... Ps and ministers... yes money is being diverted.. if you dont know something then don't talk abt it...where did minister of health chukwu get money to run for governor within such a short time.. so glad he lost anyway... we all know that after nnpc, federal ministry of health is the next most corrupt.. if you dont know this, then ur a learner....

fed govt directive is dat all MDAs must switch to the TSA and IPPIS.
Trust me, d finance pple in all MDAs are willing to comply. It is d non-finance pple, the doctors and nurses dat will still kick against it in their divine ignorance.

Like I said b4, corruption, graft and questionable dealings still go on in all ministries - not only health.

BUT I REPEAT nobody can touch personnel cost. I can only bother debating dis point to u if u are a finance person in a govt agency. Otherwise, u will never understand. But lemme give u a pointer

Auditor General office is watching, OAGF is watching, Senate cttee and house ctee on public accounts is watching, budget office is monitoring in 3D, ICPC is looking for just d slightest chance to pounce, the union leaders in dat MDA is not sleeping, d staff of d MDAs have relations in regulatory agencies to complain to, the financial operational controls in each MDA cannot be circumvented singlehandedly; they are built to work like clockwork......on cue, the board of the MDA is still in power, the chief executive of the MDA has a political appointment to protect ......and so on and so forth.

Summary; nobody tamper with personnel cost....whether IPPIS is existing or not.

I rest my case. If u still bother to dispute dis.....well......Ur ignorance is beyond redemption as far as govt financial operations is concerned.
No insult meant please

Yes there may have been some bureocratic delays but it had been over stretched for the woman to start lamenting. The poster that said personel cost cannot ve tampered with is not living/working in Naija. Has he wondered why it took the PS FMOH over a year to bring out an explanatory note on skeeping, has he wondered why the PS FMOH just realised that some consultants have not been doing their work thar prompted him to release a circular on 4/08/2015. Bros a lot happens in the teaching hospitals and FMCs. That is why NARD is calling for their probe.

In the hospital where l work (federal TH), as a patient is being discharged he/she is collecting his/her balance that same day or any day they wish to do so. If any procedure is cancelled you request for your money and you get it same day if you want.

A lot of rot goes on in our tertiary hospitals and PMB MUST FIX IT

If a whole National Hospital in Abuja is like dis, Wat do u expect from d various teaching hospitals and General Hospitals spread across the country?
Re: Housewife Accuses National Hospital Of Scam by teamchocolate: 9:09pm On Aug 10, 2015
That's the point, u don't understand the magnimity of the corruption... @ bolded, all these pple are involved...Health workers keep reporting this pple but nothing is done.. hope u followed the case of the cmd in fmc owerri... doctors in uch and luth are begging to have their centers probed and u still think there is no corruption there...
