With the pool house and admin building german floor casted, we move on to the blockwork for both structures. We will wet the german floor and leave to cure while blockwork is goin on simultaneoussly. Both structures are bungalows.

The scope of the work for the project management/supervision involves the construction/supervision of the following structures;

1. Administration building
2. Pool house
3. Gym
4. Event hall
5. Restaurants
6. Swimming pool
7. Gate house
8. Landscaping/Fountain
Why did you use mesh on the German floor for a bungalow? Thanks.

Edit: I took closer look on my PC instead of phone and noticed that the mix wasn't poured on the are ground but on a rock surface and I also see pillars.

When you get time please walk me though this process as I'm trying to learn as I gear up for my german floor.

The bricklaying here is world class. You should be really proud of the straight lines.

Iron reinforcement work has been completed for the swimming pool floor and wall, the water bar has been put in place and we are ready for casting tomorrow morning for the floor.

Re: DIY: Project Management/Supervision Of Commercial Development [ogbomosho] by BITSWORKS(op):
@egunmogaji

1. We used wire mesh. (brc wire mesh) on the german floor to hold the concrete together and prevent cracking. No matter the nature of the soil, iron reinforcement is neccesary in concrete cast as in helps in binding the concrete mix. It will also prevent the german floor from sinking (sagging). Concrete is strong in compression but weak in tension, hence the inclusion of bars of steel/iron to provide the tensile strength.

2. We used the 3/4 granite as a hardcore even though for this type of solid soil it is not compulsory but if you can afford it, it will add to the structural strength of the sub-structure/german floor.

3. The use of columns (pillars) is based on the structural drawing prepared by a structural engineer and columns help in fortifying the structural integrity of the building even if its a bungalow.

I hope these clarifications helps.

It helps tremendously.

I'm going to be building a bungalow and need to watch costs. But no cutting cost in the foundation since I wouldn't be able to easily correct it.

i can use "salanga" in the back and not fit out my toilets in order to save money in the short term grin

Thanks.

The swimming pool floor was casted yesterday, we used 9inches thickness and the mix ratio was 1:2:4. The cement used was Lafarge super set.

Casting started at about 9am and we were done by 4pm. Next stage is the formwork for the side walls.

I should have posted this update since last week but I have been quite busy and going online has been an herculean task. I was back in Ogbomosho on the 20th and 21st August and we worked on the carpentary formwork for the swimming pool.

We also casted the german floor for the restaurant and the foundation of the event hall has started in earnest.

I was back in Ogbomosho on the 19th of September and we have made quite a lot of progress. We have done the roof wood work and will be cladding it soon with long span aluminium roofing sheets.

The plumbing work and the electrical conduit work will be starting ASAP too. Work has also started on the foundation for the event hall which is 60m X 40m in size.
