Good luck genuinely called Igbos his brothers and treated them as such why should Igbos betray him? Why should Igbos join the rest of the country to stone him?

An unbiased historical analyst will know that Jonathan was the most neutral and best performing president in Nigerian history. Sad but true.
If he was truly honest, thankful and not divisive he'd embrace the whole of Nigeria lje brethren rather than political numbers for manipulation.

there is corelation btw the two because other tribes weren't haPpy with the brazen support igbos gave Gej.

Another thing you need to note is that the social media fueled this hatred because it was a battle between the igbos and the yorubas
It's funny you said the bolded. That was a claim some guy made in class, hence I was asked to sample opinions.

To be honest, the comments so far suggests a soft correlation btw the two

However, the comments are too few to make any conclusions. I have an approximate number of nlers that visit/comment on politics section daily. And I need to meet a particular percentage to make any meaningful conclusion

I'm very eagerly waiting to hear from those who hated Jonathan's admin but loves Igbos or vice versa

I leave n work in Abeokuta n I know so many Yoruba men n women who belong to APGA,PDP,LP etc. Come to think of it, PDP is not an igbo party.I never voted for Jonathan nor PMB. I still believe in prof. Sonaya of Kowa.for me moving on means forgetting d past, moving with life n associating across party divides
Being an Igbo guy that works in Yoruba land, ur input is very valuable here

Bros how dd GEJ treat igbos as brothers? Is it by building d Enugu-Porthacourt expressway? Or d political 2nd Niger bridge? Or is it d various erosion sites adoning Anambra n Abia? What exactly are we talking about? How dd his administration better d life of d igbos? Wat was d state of Aba, Onitsha etc. To what extent is d port in Onitsha working? How many ship get dere instead of Lagos.
Re: Attention!!!!!!!!!!!Any Correlation Btw The Hate For Jonathan And That For Igbos by Nobody: 1:40pm On Aug 11, 2015

It is rather absurd to make a blanket statement that oppositions to GEJ government must hate Igbo, even though GEJ is not Igbo himself.

The vast Igbo voters attracted a good amount of scorn ascribed to GEJ by absurdly absolving GEJ of all crimes and accusing opposition of ethnic bias. When the SW and multitudes of North voted for GEJ in 2011 there was no problem, but when even Jonathan cane out to make a statement that the SE is his pillar and he could win an election with them alone he built a division

However wjat did you have to say of the almost equal number of votes GEJ got in SW compared to Buhari, or the 20% of all votes in the North. That is more than the 5% Buhari got in SS/SE
Lol @d bolded
I was given this assignment cos I equally argued that it's a blanket statement
But from the comments I've followed up on (monikers that really did/do hate Jonathan)
I discovered that all of them show the same level of hatred on Igbo matters.

Where are the exceptions to this fallacy?
I need them like yesterday

If so, how did he get such level of support from Igbos if he did nothing for them?

The main reason Jonathan was hated was tribal, look at them huasas and yaribas trying to cover their sabotage of GEJ government with allegations of corruption. The chickens will come home to roost, no be the oil , matter of months

The fact remains that Jonathan traded in division and he hoped that he could profit from it.
There were over 4 million votes for Jonathan outside of SS and SE in the last election, so by that assertion over some 25% or more of total votes cast in the 2015 election.

But there has been an ethnic bitterness, especially the confrontation between the SW and the SE.

The SW are naturally very politically independent and lack a defined allegiance, when you think that as of 2009/2010 people like Tinubu were voicing their concern on how GEJ was about to be cheated out of the presidency, he received a great deal of votes subsequently in 2011 even thou ACN had a viable presidential candidate. Then came January 2012 and the subsidy removal, any sincere Nigerian knew PTMS subsidy had to go but the timing was wrong and the politically active SW was in a frenzy similar energisation of kano , Kaduna , PH. But even with the general feeling SE decided not to budge they suffered the consequences of and jeopardised the national consensus.

I think that whole decision of the SE to never say evil about the government even when it was glaring and needed criticism using our brother excuse.

It's a course bothered on culture/ethnicity/politics in Nigeria and somehow, someone alluded to this in class and it sparked my interest and I thought I could write on it. (Well, depending on how many opinions I'm able to sample)
The answer to your question lies in the correlation that exists between Igbos unmatched love for Jonathan and their "love" for Nigeria despite his poor performance.

Hope you get my point.

Which poor performance are we talking about, Obj performed woefully in his first tenure yet Yorubass voted for him in the second race even when he was contesting against their present messiah Buhari.

In 2003 Yorubass made sure that woeful and fumbling Obasanjo secured second term because he is "omo wa" and refused to field a candidate to challenge Obj unlike what they did during 1999 bc they had both Yoruba options.

Yorubass should stop trying to be smart by half, they aint fooling anybody because they have not fooled anybody and won't foool anybody, they are the worst tribalistic people in Nigeria you can take that to the bank and get paid in Pounds.

Jonathan was better than Obasanjo but today obasanjo is a saint in the sight of the Yolobass, when people call youu chameleon you will be bruising

He put not just Igbo people but Igbo women in prominent positions, which evoked the rage of bigots and sexists.

https://www.nairaland.com/2088456/president-goodlucks-administration-2011-2015-positive

The proof is above and beyond the threads created, so to say he was the most corrupt government ever is just an excuse to practice tribalism, which Hausas and Yorubas are very good at. That Igbos supported a minority is proof that all we want is good policies that benefit Nigerians. No other group in Nigeria besides the Muslims are unbashinly one sided. They voted for Buhari because he is a Muslim that supports Shari law, and he promised them he would implement it in this country.

The hatred of Igbos has always been there. That he carried Ebele which is an Igbo name was more of a reason to hate him, not to mention he was a Christian openly and unapologetic about it. All of these factors are what made them hate GEJ. Igbos supported him because he promised us so many things, some that he did others he did not. GEJ did more for Northerners then any other President yet they still openly hate him because he is not a Muslim not just because he is a minority.

You are right on this one. He promised us support in industry and business and many Igbo business men blew up under his tenure. Igbo men never hope on government welfare, job or allocation. That is part of the jealousy.

Looking at the bolded
Isn't this a hasty generalization? People like Mbaka, Ngige, Okorocha are not Yorubas or Hausas but supported Buhari.

Now let's assume we're free to generalize(which we're not)
Can I say Hausas and Yorubas are already guilty of the same?
This government doesn't seem to have made any mistakes in the eyes of pro Buharists.
Any move or word by Buhari is perfect and in order? No?

But There were Igbos that criticized Jonathan's government.

I don't think it's wrong to criticize a government in power to make sure they're on their tippy toes at all times. Infact you don't have to praise everything the government does just because you support it.
Do you think the pro Buharists see anything wrong in Buhari's moves so far. But the opposition has complained about lots of it.

Does choice of presidential candidate
attract tribal/religious hatred for any tribe that doesn't support the other?

Do you think Jonathan is the only leader that has been accused of corruption in Nigeria?

I'm not allowed to bring in my personal interest into this but if I were, I believe Buhari should probe as many past administrations as he can lay hands on, not just Jonathan's. Nigeria leaders seems to become saints/chief advisers once they leave office
But that's btw though

Good morning nlers,

I've bn observing nl politics section for sometime now. There's this trend I've noticed on this section. Once I see a moniker that displays deep hatred for Igbos, it usually turns out to be that the same moniker shows deep hatred for Jonathan too. By that I mean, the person never sees anything good about Jonathan just like they don't see anything good about Igbos.

Is it safe to say that the hatred for Jonathan attract hatred for Igbos or the hatred for Igbos attract the hatred for Jonathan. Is there a possibility that these two can be mutually exclusive?

I know this is an annonymous forum but please This is a research topic for me and I need honest answers. I need as many comments as possible so I can conclude my work.
I also hope to find anyone in the missing category so I can get their opinion on this too.

Thanks guys

Susan, lets take it dat part of d hatred is becos Jonathan is wrongly taken as igbo by other tribes.for a typical yoruba, once u are not hausa nor yoruba then u must n omo igbo.
Also,d actions of some men during d election- Oba Akiolu, Dr Ariyo shows it was us other tribes against igbos.but it still bafles me how Jonathan got block votes in all s west states except osun
